Ep. 380
Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy discuss his ongoing campaign, the long-growing hunger for depth in political discussion, the dire need for a renewed American vision, and how Vivek plans to strip the Washington administrative agencies of their unconstitutional powers.
Vivek Ramaswamy is an entrepreneur, author, and political activist. Vivek has been making headlines since announcing his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, running on a platform in part to dismantle the expansive and corrupt bureaucracy that has seeped into nearly all facets of American government. Prior to this, Ramaswamy was the founder and CEO of the biopharmaceutical company Roivant Sciences. Leaving in 2021, he published “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America's Social Justice Scam.” In 2022, he co-founded Strive Asset Management with Anson Frericks, which focuses on an alternative to the now-pushed ESG investment framework. That same year Ramaswamy published “Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence.” and has since been deemed one of the “Intellectual Godfathers of the anti-woke movement.”

When someone condenses their message, "dumbing it down", to be more understandable, I dont view it that way exactly. A good teacher will be successful if their student can easily understand a complex subject communicated from the teacher, especially in a wider audience. Teachers use massive amounts of time to master their knowledge, but to respect a listener's time but it is an artform for a teacher to dispense the main message effectively to their listener in a small amount of time

@@corbin_4738 He has used some similar rhetoric, but who cares? Obama had shit ideas, but good rhetoric. If someone copies his rhetoric, it doesn't make their ideas shit, it just makes their rhetoric good. If the idea is that it shows that Vivek isn't what he says he is, I might agree that it is suspicious if there wasn't so much long-form content that he participates in that he is very consistent in. I think the evidence is heavily in his favor because it is nearly impossible to fake what he does for such a long period of time like what happens in all the podcasts he has been on.

Not true: Trump has worked his ass off but the leftoids, with their fear of him and the MAGA base, they work hard placing obstacles in his path, which he overcomes usually. Now that they are using the law, it consumes much of his time and the expense is unimaginable. Trump was cheated out of his second term. We owe him that - period.

@@Rocksteady246how do you know that he did not k ow about benzo? I think you don’t know, there is a huge difference between benzos and alcohol. Benzos are prescribed to treat conditions such as anxiety, insomnia, etc while alcohol is not a medication. People start drinking alcohol just for pleasure or to be “socially accepted” while benzos are always prescribed for a medical reason and there is a risk to become dependent on that drug no matter what, there are people that don not get dependents and others that do.

One thing I'll never forget was the way Christie and Pence looked at Ramaswamy during the debate. They absolutely despised him. The two of them ultimately came off as old, bitter men. I'm up there in age myself {71} and I remember a young John F. Kennedy keeping his cool while Nixon sweated on live tv. There's something to be said about youth, intelligence, and the "It" factor. As someone who’s 23, his willingness to violate my first amendment rights and strip me of access to my vote is terrifying. This is the kind of authoritarianism that I’m not sure how the republicans have gotten so used to. I wish more people would challenge him on this. I work hard, I pay taxes, and he thinks I need state approval to vote. The government doesn’t give me the power to vote, my vote gives them power. If you listen to James Lindsay's work on Marxism being a gnostic, Hermetic religion, he describes one of the methods the gnostics use to lul people into their cult mentality is to tell them "Hey, you're smart. You know what's happening here, those other people think you're too dumb to handle the truth. But I want to show you that what you already know, well that's just a small part of this much bigger set of truths. Let me show you the real truth, behind the curtain that's been hidden, no kept secret from you all this time." Im not saying Vivek is doing this, but he's doing the first part of it where he claims (correctly) politicians are beholden to donor, party and lobby money through taking donations from superPACs etc and having tow party lines, and moderate their positions and to a degree become uniform. Part of that first part is also in his marketing that he has a qualifying understanding of law and the constitution to correctly glean what would be the most 'constitutional' way to proceed in various domains of his possible presedential jurisdiction. Perhaps we are just not used to seeing compotence on the presedential ticket that it can appear mildy suspect. What I'm essentially saying though is we shouldn't make our minds up yet and remain on guard for weasel words or worse, like collectivism.

Being left alone is, by definition a political side. Aristotle said to be human is to be the most political among all creatures. The side that doesn't want you to realize that being left alone is opposition to them, is perfectly happy with your indifference to their subversion of that right of yours. If you don't defend that which is dear to you, it will be lost, and you will participate in the ways they tell you to when they tell you to.

Vivek's conceptualization of marriage and family at the tender age of 37 is truly remarkable in its wisdom and honesty. Whether he reaches the White House on this go 'round or not, his marriage and devoted fatherhood should serve as inspiration to millions of young people today. The institution of healthy family life is fundamental to the future of our nation's spiritual and economic prosperity. His pledge to go as our president into the most troubled districts of our great cities and address the origins of dysfunction directly is refreshing to say the least. He obviously understands the tragedy of fatherless families, government dependency, and abysmal public education. I think he's dedicated to fundamentally reversing the social collapse of the inner city. This disaster was spawned by wrongheaded government paternalism which was designed by Johnson Era bureacrats to fix the problem but instead have made it orders of magnitude worse. I wish him Godspeed in this endeavor if he is elected. His approach is sorely needed to solve the problems of urban societal collapse.

How does voting works in the US? you have to register for the party.
@LotsOfBologna2
@LotsOfBologna2 8 ай бұрын
@@kunalvarjaniYou get to register for a political party and you can change it when you want. So every election, you can either vote in the Democrat primaries or the Republican primaries. Then you can vote in the general.

@@LotsOfBologna2ok! We vote every 5 years, we just visit the polling booth then show our ID then there are the names of the party and symbol with the button next to it you just press the button of the party you want to vote to once and done ✅. A ballot gets printed into the collection box.

Brilliant interview. Dr Peterson is speaking truth about the impact of podcasts. My husband listens to podcasts ALL the time. He consumes a wide range of topics and when he does work he puts one on and feeds his mind while he works. I doubt he is the only one doing it. Keep up the long form conversation. It will gain you the thinking voters that aren't afraid to tell those in their lives why they are going to vote for you.

How can you honestly think this is authentic? This guy is as media trained as they come. Trump and Obama were far more authentic and they were complete liars still. I'm sure Jordan (being a psychologist) sees through it too. When he is adding little details and correcting himself its obvious that the goal is to make himself look as perfect as possible, that is on his mind 24/7, "how am I coming off?", while he claims to not even think about that stuff, he claims to have no strategy except telling the truth as he sees it. He always wants to come across as competent but humble at the same time, way too likable for people to actually like him in the long run I think, because we can sense that's just a fasad. Everyone has flaws but he hides his completely, that scares me. He's clearly a salesman, those people that call you on the phone that we normally hate. His whole thing is "follow the constitution" which Republican have been saying for 50 years probably. Him making life a little bit harder for adult transpeople and gay people wont help you, I promise. Better healthcare will help you.

@Douglemagne I don't need to Google that, I listen to all his long form conversations. I have no problem with what he said. Taiwan belongs to China, every administration has acknowledged the One China policy, and there are a lot of people in that country that want to be a part of China. Vivek is just being consistent in saying we will not continue to police the world and we will look out for the interest of the American people, like the founding fathers envisioned. Look at what all our interventions have amounted to, worst outcomes for those nations.
