Jordan B Peterson

Күн бұрын

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to discuss the recent suspension of his campaign, how he fought the traditional media’s best advances against him, who he is endorsing now, and the American values he seeks to defend going forward.
Vivek Ramaswamy is an entrepreneur, author, and political activist. Vivek has been making headlines since announcing his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, running on a platform in part to dismantle the expansive and corrupt bureaucracy that has seeped into nearly all facets of American government. Prior to this, Ramaswamy was the founder and CEO of the biopharmaceutical company Roivant Sciences. Leaving in 2021, he published “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America's Social Justice Scam.” In 2022, he co-founded Strive Asset Management with Anson Frericks, which focuses on an alternative to the now-pushed ESG investment framework. That same year Ramaswamy published “Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence”
and has since been deemed one of the “Intellectual Godfathers of the anti-woke movement.”
This episode was recorded on March 27th, 2024

My 9 year old son LOVES Vivek. He watched him in all of the debates and listened to him on podcast episodes. He decided to do storytelling this year, and he acts like Vivek to bring out his elevated storytelling abilities. He won first trying to imitate Vivek’s charisma. He’s an inspiration to little boys. I am an independent (and I lean left), but I like that Vivek is ideologically consistent, and I like his uniting message for citizens on both sides of the political spectrum. Plus, he’s willing to engage in discussions with people on both sides of politics. That, to me, is an important competency for a political candidate. I hope Vivek runs in 2028 - I would vote for him. Thanks for yet another great interview, Dr. Peterson! I really enjoy your content. You’re a necessary voice in this space and I appreciate you sharing your expertise and thoughts with your viewers and your guests, AND you allow your guests to do the same. I also love the way you engage with people on both sides of politics and others issues, too. You really encourage a growth mindset in your viewers through your content and I feel like I learn something new every time I watch a video of yours (or when I come across a lecture of yours). God bless you, and your family! ❤

That was always what encouraged me about Vivek, is that reasonable people will set the "R vs D" nonsense aside, and actually listen to the points he's making. A term as VP would set him up great for a 2028 run, but more importantly, it would keep his voice active in the political sphere until then (though I'm sure he could keep his voice active in any role that he plays... people love having him on their shows, podcasts, etc.).

@@BDKoalaofcourse he uses slogans often, it's literally unavoidable in a political race. But I disagree with your claim. I believe Vivek goes very deep quite often within a podcast format, somewhat dependant on who the host is and where they steer the conversation ofcourse. If you want to hear Vivek speak with alot of depth in explaining and supporting his policy and perspectives I highly recommend listening to Vivek's first appearance on Brett Weinstein's podcast or any of the podcasts he has done with Dave Smith.

I am a student of history and I particularly enjoy learning about ancient civilizations and the American Revolutionary period and the Early Republic era. I highly doubt you or Mr. Peterson will see this comment, but I really get where you're coming from with the enlightenment and revolutionary inspirations. I no longer want to live in fear and I've realized there's no "one size fits all" way to solve all the problems this country has. But this open dialogue really matters and does break barriers. Tbh, I see trump as the populist champion of the liberty minded right, whereas Vivek is the liberty minded candidate. Trump has always been at least partially influenced by and motivated by by his base, and it’s his base that he truly cares for as a father figure and is willing to be a figure head for that base. Whereas Vivek is a more traditional leader who just happens to agree with that base very strongly and won’t stop his agenda even if that base turns on him or fades away

I've seen this man plenty. He's so eloquent, thoughtful, deep and appears on face value, well intentioned. He's at his best here. America and general Western World needs him. I watched all the Republican debates and he's right about 'damned if you do damned if you don't'. He was being pushed and prodded and needed to respond. Hopefully next time, he gets traction quicker and has more time to focus on his message than who is. One thing - I understand man is free and we don't want anything but truth. America is still a Christian country and there'll always be doubt about his true intentions as a Hindu - it's unprecedented. No one vocalises this but it's in the background like the Jungian Shadow...

Oh I am glad you followed up with Vivek, dearest Dr. Peterson, I know you had a good working relationship with him. He wasn’t my candidate, DeSantis was, but I think he fought the good fight and that his campaign opened doors for him. I wish him the best. Speaking of wishing the best, I was saddened to hear that Tammy is feeling so poorly and relieved that she is resting with Mikhaila. If you happen to see this, Dr. Peterson, please give her my love and prayers for recovery. With Ruth Anne’s love

I have great gratitude for Vivek. He’s a true American whose allegiance lies with the ideals of the American project. At its heart, the American dream is the dream of the oppressed individual, who takes responsibility for not just their own freedom, but the freedom of the human spirit both now and in the future. Vivek has this spirit.

Probably going to hurt a lot of feeling hear, but if Donald Trump wasn’t in the picture, Vivek would be the nominee and the best GOP candidate of all time. But Trump has such a stranglehold on the party unfortunately, Vivek is my guy and it’s a dang shame people can’t vote past their prior allegiances.

I'm a Trump guy, love Vivek. I think Trump NEEDS a second term to take vengeance against the machine that robbed us blind in 2020. And, I would argue Vivek will benefit from seeing just how corrupt the machine is. Trump was lied to by the intelligence agencies, the military, his own party, besieged by the press, etc. Vivek is a tough guy, but being able to see that adjacent from being the focus will harden him even more against the stupid press gotchas and the pathological liars in the bureaucracy.

Great interview! Ive added JP and Vivek to my wall of inspirational characters. I wonder how Vivek approaches the “power vs. persuasion” conundrum JP asked about when referencing Moses. It’s a unique dilemma for many leaders. Creative destruction…great question JP! It’s really hard to articulate or identify “we’ve reached an extreme” or “this is clearly bad.” good on you to help Vivek speak that out loud. Vivek seems to have a knack for identifying favorable risk/reward scenarios. AND he has the unique ability to creatively create & execute a “trade” to capitalize on these opportunities. I’m interested in seeing where his intuition and prayer leads him next. I think he’d have a hard time being trumps vp. His success is about more than execution. There’s an element of nuanced timing and vision. In most cases, you have to be the boss to get the autonomy necessary to live out that skill set. Just a guy spit balling while watching KZbin. Keep spreading the word! We’re all better when we all carry our own crosses.
