In this video, I breakdown exactly what steps you need to take in order to become someone who can make plays "subconsciously". When we put all the pieces together, it's a very simple process to becoming someone who can make plays instinctually.

Tip: Don’t overthink it. Your Basketball Instincts will come naturally. Just know your game and and work within your skill set. A Basketball players tool box: •Shooting on the outside, like 3s • Scoring in the inside, driving, posting, etc • Ball handling/ passing •Defense • Rebounds ( All you need is to be Good and beyond at one or more of these skills to be a effective basketball player) • Conclusion: like Coach said play more games to increase your basketball instincts and when your playing games don’t overthink just play and work within your game. And we all know you gotta play with the best to be the best. So that being said, hope that helped you. God Bless... And Peace ✌🏾

Would love to have a conversation with you on the decision making that a lot of trainers think can only be built through live situations. Decision making and instinctual reads are skills that are ultimately built just like any other skill. I truly believe that live play is not the only way to build that skill. If that was the case- watching film would be void. My theory is if a player can get enough deliberate film watching and reactive training- they can replace what they would have built through live training. I don't think the skills world knows enough about cognitive training yet to really understand that

Just like how coaches don't understand the balance between training and strength/conditioning. There's a lot of miscommunication in the world of sports science

Abby IK by reactive training you’re referring to training that forces you to make reads and quicks decisions, correct? If so, yes I agree with what you’re saying. Film is no doubt important. That’s why part 1 of this was all about breaking down film to learn the reads and when each is applicable. My point is, ultimately, working on making those reads in a live situation (could be simulated with a trainer or small group) is what will allow you to develop the instincts to make the correct read at the correct time in those situations. No amount of film watching can replace the need for that. Just had someone DM me saying: “The key to becoming a subconscious player is devolving some type of mastery of the flow state of mind where you’re just playing all muscle memory and ( subconsciously ) thinking the game through.” That muscle memory comes through practicing those situations.

@@VisionDrivenBasketball Reactive training (I.e. a between the legs to a pull-up when the light turns green) builds the ability to subconsciously react to stimuli in a matter of seconds. Film would show players the stimuli they should be reacting to. I would argue that much of basketball is simply reacting to stimulus, avoiding defenders, and getting the ball to space. As long as you build the skills to execute those reads, build the cognitive speed to react to any stimulus quickly, and watch film (which also plays a huge role in mimicry- a subconscious action)- live training would only serve as just another reactive drill that doesn’t have to be done.

@@VisionDrivenBasketball Of course the optimal choice would be both reactive skills training and live play- like many NBA players do. But the majority of players would benefit from one or the other

Anna Busa Dont wait you show your coach how good you are in the. Show him in practice. For example do great in your team scrimmages. And show that your are a effective player and a benefit to helping your team win. And if that doesn’t work then just go to another team. You don’t wanna be anywhere we’re people are trying to dim your light. Hope that helped
