yeah when you do these things, one person at a time should be talking. We aren't having a conversation with each other. You are presenting information, and if you want it to be professional and comprehensible, then one person at a time talking. You guys follow a script? Should work out who is saying what parts.

Don't people know that they can put the blade on something called a box cutter at 1:38 ? Not sure why so many people insist on using blades with their bare hands. If someone knows the answer..

Blue painter's tape was the magic bullet that made me succeed with 3D printing. I have a further pro tip; if you cover the entire print surface with the tape, avoiding gaps and overlaps as demonstrated in this video, then you can get tons of life out of this build surface by relocating your prints in your slicer to other areas of the bed. I have to redo the tape maybe once every six weeks or so. When the tape in the center starts to wear thin or tears when I'm removing a print, then I'll start printing in the center at the rear of the bed, or on the left side of the bed. It works a treat.

I actually have found that I prefer to print on just clean glass as I love the bottom finish on prints, if I'm printing something with a tendency to curl I'll use a adhesive, I use to use glue stick for everything and recently switched to printer bed adhesives prints are still pooping right off and it still retains the beautifully glossy first layers.
@VisionMiner

Glass is definitely awesome. Sometimes we like a texture on the bottom, but most of the time, perfectly flat mirror finish is the best!

You are making a fkng 3 year study of taping ... it's simply taping a bed. That's it, you can tape it however you want, it's clear that you can't overlap. :S
@VisionMiner

Well, you can overlap, and it'll still work.... hah! Moreover our glue will basically save you lots of time and money in the long run, but if you're in a bind, tape works :)

No such thing as good blue tape. The quality masking tape is green, not blue. Green frog tape does not tear from itself and lasts for days if not weeks without leaving residue or lifting from the substrate. I learned this in mecp certification training when making custom molds with fiberglass resin. Blue tape sucks and thats what it is designed to do.
@phasesecuritytechnology6573
@phasesecuritytechnology6573 4 ай бұрын
A better way to cut the tape is not to use the very corner edge of the razor blade but use the blade towards its center and push instead of pull at a 70 degree angle to the plate and just glide it all the way down the edge. Make sure the tape is folded slightly down over the edge. You will get a safe perfectly straight edge every time as it uses the edge of the plate as a guide.
@gregruckstuhl4268

I actually make a note not to touch the plate with my hands .... being oil from your skin is the worst thing that will kill your print right from the start.....I don't know how thay got that to print after both of them had there hands all over it rubing it constantly.....I use the flat edge of a plastic scraper to lay down the tape in the same approach making sure to keep things as clean as possible....🧐😁 Any how outher then that it's an all right video 😁

Tossing this out here - blue tape isn't working. The "curl" of some parts - especially large, flat bases - is strong enough to pull the tape off of the glass bed. I've had to abandon this technique.
@VisionMiner
@VisionMiner 4 жыл бұрын
100% correct -- many materials warping, such as nylon, will be too much for the adhesive on the tape itself, causing the tape to fold up. This method is really just a last resort for basic materials, if nothing else is working :)

Stupid question, but I can’t find the answer (my search led me to this video). Should you change your plate temp if you’re using tape? I’m at 55 C normally with PLA, but it’s not sticking great, and I’m switching to PETG soon so I’m gonna try using tape, but I’m not sure what to do about the temp setting

Hi everybody, I print on the glass bed and for me the best solution for good adhesion is ... WATER WITH SUGAR. Just before printing I wipe the warm bed (50-60 deg C) with cloth soaked sweet water. After 1 minute you have thin sticky layer on your bed - IT WORKS GREAT !

I tried Scotch Builders Blue Tape on my hot bed of the Tronxy X5SA 2020 model and I found that it hates Heat. If I do the bed heat to say 55 c that tape just un-sticks and curls up! So since even some PLA's need 55 or more sometimes. The tape just fails and soon the edges and even the middle of it bubbles up and un-sticks. I've now using the electronics heat proof gold UEETEK Tape. That was a bit hard to put down on the flexible build plate surface, But I did it slowly and got almost all the air bubble out using a sharp blade point to pick those bubbles and then flatten them with the bed scraper. The prints stick well to it and are easy to remove, Although one PLA I got is a glow in the dark version. It is very brittle and twangy and seems to be more able to curl up from the build plate at the prints edges? I may have to use some glue stick or some extra hold hair spray on there just to keep the edges held down. Or maybe do the hot bed to 55 c instead of the recommended 45 c?

i use the yellow tape masking tape i just put it on a glass pieces from an old window and honestly after 10 prints i change it ... but even then i only swap it cause sometimes i scratch the tape cause im clumsy but if u dont scratch the tape u apply once it stays there for over 10 prints perfect 1st layer everytime. and easy to remove the print from it... it just slides off with a little pressure once its cooled down from 50C bed to like 30 or 40. on my end the tape even overlaps each sides it doesn't really matter the size difference is so small it's pointless trying to place it perfectly. 0.05 mm thickness half a 10th of a milimeter. not going to affect ur print. however i do print with a 1mm nozel so i don't really care if my pieces are a lil bit crooked at bottom.

PETG and ABS usually has very good layer adhesion. I have had prints pull pieces of the glass up with them, and leaving pits in the glass plate. Does your Nano Polymer Adhesive prevent that?
@VisionMiner
@VisionMiner 3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't prevent it, with ABS -- with ABS we always recommend some sort of surface instead of glass, or a perfect z-offset -- that's really the key -- generally the shrinkage only breaks glass with ABS or PETG (or even PLA) when the first layer is smushed into the bed
