Lauren, I’m so glad you have taken on this topic! I read Visions of Glory at the request of my dying sister-in-law in 2014. She had taken notes in the borders of each page. She felt so strongly about this book that she chose to give her special copy to me. She told me that she knew a seminary teacher, who knew an institute teacher, who knew an apostle “AND HE SAID IT WAS ALL TRUE!” That book sent me into a four month anxiety episode! I couldn’t sleep, I was spooked by everything in the news. When she passed away, I was still reading it. I ended up throwing it in the trash! I knew that if all of this was true, our prophet would know about it and warn us. Since then, my trust in everyone from politicians to church leaders to sales and charity pitches has fallen to an all time low. I see lies and scams in things I used to be happily gullible believing . I listened to Tim Ballard and Sean Reyes at a fireside several years ago. I told my husband that Sean seemed like a too-smooth wannabe billionaire politician. And Tim was full of crap and his stories were too fantastical to be true. Here we are, in 2023, with all of the crazies who have come out of these end of time books and groups. How many people dead? How many bizarre crimes have been committed? How many marriages and families split up? It’s unreal, isn’t it?

Years ago I took a hypnosis training in New Mexico. At one point a teacher was doing a demo with one of the students and one of the other students ( a lovely woman who clearly had a lot of intuition but believed In all kinds of things such as twin flames with great conviction) began to tell the student whod been in trance that she'd seen an angel hovering over them. The teacher stopped her right there and told her to be very careful about putting her own, no doubt heartfelt interpretations onto another person's experiemce because it can get in their way of their own self healing. He made us start all interpretations with "i make up that..." because he wanted us to be very clear that our interpretations are our own and should never be imposed. I have noted t hat distinction ever since. I believe that respect is so often missing when people try to heal others. I remember a scene from a program on the holocaust where the narrator i think it was is standing in auschwitz, and says "my god, from the belly of christ, think that yen mght be wrong" and that has been one of my definitions of evil ever since. Not keeping open the possibility that you might be wrong.

Well I wouldn’t say knowing about these topics makes you a Mormon expert, but more of a fringe-radical “Mormon” expert 😂. Lauren is Mormon, (or was for most of her life, I’m not sure if she’s still active), so hopefully people realize the reason she had to put so much work into figuring out Chad/Lori/tim’s belief systems is because they are so far outside any “normal” Mormon beliefs and official teachings. And actually a lot of these beliefs are things that the Mormon church specifically speaks against (like energy healing, reincarnation, etc). Their belief systems are so wildly different from official Mormon doctrine that I’m honestly confused why they all still consider themselves Mormon. I completely agree that seeing Tim’s statements and all of this and how it moved in a downward spiral makes you wonder where this could have led him. Hopefully this downfall will be a wake up call for him to reevaluate this belief system he’s become entrenched in. I think it will make him dig his heels in, though.

I’m so glad you are delving deep into this belief system because I think the influences that are seeping into mainstream culture are ultimately dangerous to all of us. The trafficking hysteria has bothered me for awhile. Seeing how out of touch many people are with the reality of these complicated social/economic situations that arise from dysfunction not only in families but in the systems we have put into operation to deal with these concerns are extremely complex and cannot be explained or addressed with sensational sound bites. I worked in one of the last locked institutions (at that time) for delinquent girls 14-18 years old in San Francisco in the 1970s. These were girls who had been involved in more serious crimes involving violence, theft rings, occasionally murder, but most had been used in the sex trade in one form or another. I think the most surprising aspect of all this to me is how close and continuing (there was little at that time we could do to stop it) the relationship with their ‘pimps’ or alternative family systems remained through all this punishment and therapy. It was the ‘pimp, traffickers’ they turned to because their real families were rarely in contact. Girls are not suddenly taken off the streets bundled into cars and introduced into sex slavery. The process is much different and far more subtle. Girls and young men get alienated from families for so many reasons. It is not always what most people consider obviously dysfunctional households, it can be drugs, sexual orientation, it can also be the form of discipline, lack of discipline or even religion. If questioning too much long held beliefs of parents. The reasons are varied, the problem is alienation and solutions are not easy and take a great deal of awareness and insight.

This video is incredibly impressive? Your research is praiseworthy. I am trying to figure out how to add your video to my KZbin Favorites when I do not see a Save button on it, but maybe I can do that from my KZbin History. I am editing this comment to say I was able to add this episode to my Favorites by going to History and clicking on the 3 buttons. Now, I plan to go to Patreon and join your podcast there. I am already a KZbin member.

Ketamine is a dissociative, considered either medicine or a recreational drug, depending what you’re using it for. Not sure what Tim Ballard was using it for, but EVERYONE steps out of themselves and many experience visions (or hallucinations). This is all f’ed up- you were totally spot on, Lauren. I listened to the reading of that lawsuit and words and phrases were jumping out at me - remembering the Daybell case, of course. Thank you for your obvious hard work and extensive research. You’re connecting the dots for us and it’s very much appreciated 🙏🏽

Did you read that or experience it? I used Ketamine (special K) often in my 20's during my clubbing years - never once felt what you described Never hallucinated or felt out of myself
@MKConnecticut Жыл бұрын
@@honeybadger3570 I’ve used it recreationally and therapeutically. I only experienced hallucinations in very high doses in infusions- not like psychedelics, but indeed hallucinations. And I certainly did feel the dissociative effect- using recreationally as well. That’s what i liked about it. It was a “break” from being in my own head for awhile. My son used it in the 90’s as a partying drug. I’ve never used it for that. I know folks who are using the nasal spray for depression and at least one is getting very good results.

@@honeybadger3570 a couple of years ago I saw someone trip hard on Ket he went down an intense rabbit hole for 10 mins and what he described was out of this world . Some people use high doses to have an experience like this .
@Elizabethvaughan1 Жыл бұрын
I wasn’t aware that people were using that recreationally ! It has been used as an anesthetic for 50 + years particularly in Veterinary medicine . After seeing hundreds of cats , dogs , monkeys and apes under it’s influence , I , for the life of me can’t understand why anybody would want to subject themselves to it voluntarily .

@@Elizabethvaughan1 😊😆 Some of the best times of my early 20's were on that lol but I was also on ecstacy at the time too. Made the mistake once of taking k w/o being on x 🙃 I was stuck on the outdoor Patio at the club couldn't stand on my legs till almost 2am bar close. I knew what was going on I just didn't have strength to move As for why willingly... it's been 20 years since I've been in that party scene, but I raced flattrack motorcycles 24/7/365 from 7yo until 15 when my stepdad died on the infield while I was out on the track racing - they called flight for life but they couldn't save him. My life as I knew it ended, the only thing I knew my entire life from dirt track racing to ice racing, the adrenaline weekend after weekend just ripped away and gone at 15. Certainly wasn't for lack of trying I even went out for cheerleading in 9th grade high school and made it... being a petite 100lb I was the one being tossed in the air - would have been fine had they just dropped me but bc one side caught me and the other side didn't, the not caught side slammed into the ground with my arm out and broke my arm clean through an inch from my shoulder joint so they couldn't cast it. 3 months in a arm to body brace and physical therapy to move & lift my arm again... yeah fell into the party crowd after that and didn't want out until I was 24

Tim Ballard could have taken a woman with undercover experience or military back round. He chose LDS women who would be a liability in. The odd thing is Tim has been in front of every camera for the last 3 years raising millions of dollars telling everyone what he does for a living. He was filmed with the president talking about S/T through the border and even made a movie about himself rescuing kids. Then still thinks a LDS office worker would make look legitimate .every trafficker now knows his face and his tactics . Putting the kids the women and himself In danger . I really want to hammer this home . # 1 Tim instead of focusing on raising money and letting other people go undercover wanted to be worshipped like a movie star Then try to go undercover after showing his face everywhere risking so many lives . All for his ego #2 Tim chose inexperience women that would be intimidated by his use of the churches authority when they were isolated and in a strange place He did not choose what you would want on that mission . A strong woman with military or undercover experience if the mission went wrong. Adding more danger to the mission . Every decision he made was to boost his ego and sex life at the risk of every one’s life .

The common denominator with these cases ( Daybell, Ballard, & Hildebrandt) is fringe mormonism. And the leaders of the church ignore it until it bites them. They don't stop it while it's hurting people.
@AngryReptileKeeper11 ай бұрын
Mormonism is a perfect example of how the only difference between a cult and a religion is follower numbers and public acceptance.

Ty for everything you do! I've taken a brief hiatus since loris trial. But tim ballard reeled me back in. I have a question that I hope isn't too personal and you certainly don't have to answer. Are you still an active member or the church?
@BecciBuck Жыл бұрын
I had no idea Tim was this connected to the prepper groups. I’d only ever heard of Visions of Glory. I may have to listen to it for myself. The way it was talked about in AVOW made it seem innocent and benign. I’d NEVER heard of portals or “light/dark” people until the Daybell case. This is scary! I thought Chad and Lori (mainly Chad) were making up their own things. But that came from Visions of Glory? 🤯
