You can tell how beautiful growing up in an Orthodox household is. My parents were not educated, but taught us how we can apply the scriptures in our lives to be non judgemental and compassionate to everyone, friend or foe. Christ was loved more than anything on earth. We were dedicated to do what Christ would do. The icons were not worshipped but respected. The icons were like books, showing and depicting events in the Bible because my parents couldn't read. When they came to America they prayed, fasted a lot and taught us to never ever have a malice tounge, we should have love for everyone regardless of what they did. My parents always told me it is God's job to judge not yours.

I'm not very eloquent with words...but I truly loved this interview. This man was persecuted for his beliefs and it made him so much stronger. He's given me a lot of inspiration to do more. We, in America, don't realize how lucky we are! However, if one doesn't open their eyes, we will suffer the same. God bless you brother

A little suffering makes people angry ...... a lot of suffering brings them to GOD. I have experienced that in my life at age 62 .

The persecution of our day is different, yet still with the same objective: separating souls from God. Fr. Roman said it best: Today, Satan is well-perfumed and more elegant. It is violence today, but mass manipulation with the most horrendous instrument being "political correctness" (See "The Saint of the Prisons", pg. 285).

Father Roman has departed to the Lord. That happened some years ago now. I had the privilege to meet him. When we were walking on the grounds of the monastery, he looked at the cemetery with longing. He said that soon he will depart to go there. He was not feeling badly about it but rather he looked forward to it.

The prayer of the righteous avails much! if God is for you? Who can be against you? He's more than the world against you! We are blessed to be a blessing, we are more than conquerors through Him that loves us! God favors the righteous with good things, those that trust Him, that pursuit Him without fear of opposition, knowing that He's our strong tower, a refuge in times of trouble, we fear Him that can destroy both body and soul! Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, Yes as Christians we are a royal priesthood, a peculiar people, sent to show forth His praises in the midst of adversity! And where sin abounds, grace much more abounds! God bless this man of God! Keep the faith! : )

@@dzustas1827 I have, when Paul is writing to the congregation of the apostolic church of Corinth, a church which Paul had founded during his missionary travels, he refers to the Corinthians as his "beloved children". He tells them that they "do not have many fathers", but that he himself has "begotten" them. Clearly, Paul is taking on the mantle of spiritual fatherhood for the congregation of Corinth. So, no problem with calling our clergy "father".
