Ah, the city I grew up in (I live in London now). I miss Bath loads. I think it's probably the most beautiful city in the UK. A lot of UK places have some lovely areas, but Bath is consistently beautiful for almost all of it. One thing you didn't mention is that Bath is very hilly. If you're driving, make sure you're good at those hill-starts (some of those streets are 3:1). A very nice (and free) place to go in Bath is Alexandra Park at Beechen Cliff. It has amazing views all over the city.

Plenty of big cities within close proximity to each other and Manchester is the ideal place to stay - so many things to see and do within the city itself AND you're spoilt for choice for day trips: Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Lancaster, Blackpool, Chester, North Wales, Lake District, Peak District and many other destinations are all within close proximity to Manchester!

Another good option to get around is to stay near by Bath ( we stayed in Devizes) and do the short drive and use the Park and Ride service. Free parking on outskirts of town and cheap, regular buses into town centre. This Park and Ride system is great and used in many popular tourist towns in UK. Just look for the road side signs.

This is a great video. Well done! Fun fact (I'm a local) - the reason you can't bathe in the water or drink it there anymore is because of the discovery of an amoeba that can give a form of meningitis (specifically one that eats your brain) in the water. Apparently, a man died when he contracted it there a few decades ago. This may just be an urban legend though. Either way, they closed off the pools, so as to not risk anyone else having their brains eaten. Don't worry though, water from the drinking fountains is perfectly safe and fine to drink though.

on certain occasions, peeps were permitted to swim in the Roman Baths, right up until the 1980's when someone had the idea that perhaps lead-lined waters might not be the best place in which to immerse your bod. Glad you enjoyed the city - yes parking is a nightmare but there are three park-and-ride buss stations on the edge of the city where you can park your car, and double-decker busses will buss you into the city centre. As for Stone Henge ....meh ...it's been messed with and feels redundant these days; not far away is Avebury, said to be the heart chakra of the world, and Britain's largest stone circle. Plus you can actually 'touch' the stones. Stone Henge is heavily guarded by gestapo-like forces who will escort you - and your entire party, off-site if you even think about raising a pinky in their direction. To think my Mum and Dad once parked on the edge of the road and my fam would settle in the centre of the stones and eat our egg sandwiches. It feels alive still in Avebury, gentle yet powerful with great walking, and is where you'll find the best crop circles (before the crops are harvested at the end of summer). Where 'er you go, I hope you have a fabulous visit!

I was born in Bath and lived there until I was 24 (when I moved to London for work), I absolutely love the city and still regularly go home to see family and friends. Usually get the train and stay in an apartment in the centre as it’s so compact and convenient. Would also like to mention the rugby club in the heart of the city… whilst the stadium itself is outdated, it’s one of the most picturesque professional sporting venues (ie the views from the stands) in the world and the city is genuinely buzzing on match days. You’ve also got Bristol (or Brizzle as the locals call it) which is only a 15 minute train away and Cardiff, albeit a bit further.

I just got back from a little staycation in Bath and knew you’d have some good tips! 🇬🇧 A lovely city - the architecture you mention not to be missed and Jocelyn the Jane Austen Centre is great you’re so right. Thanks guys, here’s to proper travels again soon PS how’s you like those bath bunns at Sally Lunn’s??! Delicious.

I love that Mark showed flapjacks @9:38. Folks from the UK may find it amusing that in America, flapjacks are just pancakes.

I was so surprised how much I really enjoyed Bath. One of my favorites. So easy to see what we wanted. We were just there for one day but loved every minute.
