Laurel, Mississippi is a charming town located in the Piney Woods section of southern Mississippi. Founded over 150 years ago the community has been placed in the national spotlight in recent years thanks to the wildly successful HGTV show Home Town featuring Laurel natives Ben and Erin Napier who are on a mission to help rebuild and restore some the towns older homes one at a time.

It is a nice community but having lived in Mississippi for a couple of years I would highly encourage you make a visit in both summer and winter to get a true feel for the area. The culture is very different but for an outsider it will take a period of adjustment. However, the people are warm and inviting and if you give it time you would probably enjoy the change from Canada. But again, do make a couple of week or longer visits in both seasons.

Laurel was my home town for the first 11 yrs of my life. Just from what I have seen on Home Town shows it has changed so much 💜

If you don't mind a little humidity and the occasional tornado it's really a nice friendly community to settle down in.

I've been bidding on homes here for 9 months it's tough house flippers who don't intend to live in Laurel are inflating the prices.
