WE EXPLORE HGTV'S HIT SHOW HOME TOWN IN LAUREL, MISSISSIPPI | SCOTSMAN CO | LAUREL MERCANTILE

On our last and final video of our 2021 road trip from Florida to Montana we spent the day in Laurel, Mississippi. This is where my (Melissa's) personal favorite HGTV show, Hometown is made. In this show locals Ben and Erin Napier fix up houses for families while also starting a revitalization project in their hometown.
We explored Ben's store, Scotsman Co which is a mixture of his woodshop, where you can see him woodworking and a general store where you can buy all kinds of goodies. (See Video) And then we went to Erin's store, Laurel Mercantile. Where you can buy all kinds of house wares. Then we were hungry, so we checked out 2 local spots, a restaurant and a bakery. And they were both yummy!

I couldn't agree more, soda always tastes better out of a glass bottle! And is so much more fun! Love the retro bottles. Too bad you weren't able to go to the restaurant you wanted to, but I'm happy to hear the New Orleans one was super good, its looks delicious! I would LOVE to try those duck wontons, how neat!! That is an amazing road trip, wow that's a lot of states and miles! Absolutely incredible, what an amazing experience! :) Great video!!

Hometown is a great show! We really enjoy HGTV. This is so cool that you got to check out the town it is filmed in. We loved all the glass bottle sodas in the walk in cooler at the General Store. So many choices. But I will pass on the mustard flavored soda or ranch dressing flavored soda. Those seem like bad ideas. Too bad that you didn't get to see Ben and the woodworkers filming. That would have been cool to see. Your food at Cafe La Fleur really did look delicious. Thanks so much for sharing your day in Laurel with us!

Cool visit. I love those Dots pretzels! That was quite the selection of drinks there. That lunch looked great. Now those road trip stats at the end were super impressive! Yes those Dots pretzels are made in North Dakota, they are so good! Lunch was awesome, I can confirm that one since that was my food, lol. And nope no school system here, I do homeschool our kids, but my husband works for his dad and my parents in law normally go with us on our ventures so he gets that time off, we are truly blessed. HGTV is my favorite! I don't think I've watched Hometown before though. Love the vintage feel! Wish I could try Big Ben's coffee right now! Soda definitely tastes better out of a glass bottle. That's a bummer that you couldn't go to Pearl's Diner! But the alternative looked amazing, as well as did the sweet afterwards! Wow, what a ROADTRIP!!

My wife and I visited in August of this year. Agreed it is a nice quaint town. Just be aware that the stores all close early, and on Sunday nothing opens until 1 PM. Just like old time America.
