Step back in time as you take a relaxing stroll with me on a rather rainy, early Spring day to the home of the famous author Rudyard Kipling. Now lovingly owned and maintained by The National Trust it is a real treat to visit.
Bateman's sits nestled in the Sussex Weald countryside, surrounded by fields and woodland. The garden that made Rudyard Kipling feel like an English country gentleman includes a river running through a wildflower meadow, a watermill, apple & pear orchard, pond and a formal rose garden.
His children would often take their little rowing boats out onto the lilly pond. Many of these magical places appear in the writings of Rudyard Kipling. You can explore inside the house, with the most wonderful collection of his old, beloved books. Step into his writing study and it will feel like he has just stepped out for a breath of fresh air.
One day I will return when the roses are in bloom. Thank you for watching, do give my video a like and subscribe.
