Lovely. They look just like my boys when they were little. I love that bit near the start when the youngest touches his mother's skirt and moves his little hand grabbing the skirt slightly - mine used to do that when little, to have the close connection with their mother. it is very sweet.

I really enjoyed my visit to your barn to hear how it was built and to see all the animals. I’ve been a city girl all my life, so this was a real treat for me. The boys are so adorable! Thank you for the tour.

Such a sweet video, taking a stroll through the barn. Loved the donkey song. I spent time with my great grandchildren & what a wonderful time we all had. My great grandson was off doing boys stuff with his dad fixing a friends car so I got to spend one on one with my great granddaughter. At one stage she nearly fell asleep in my arms. Looking down into those sweet eyes. I was rubbing her back & when I stopped eyes open More Nana More Don’t stop. I thank God everyday how blessed I am to have such a beautiful granddaughter, her husband & my two munchkins. They complete my life to over flowing with love & gratitude. May God continue to bless you, your family & your community. Thank you so very much for sharing your life with us. Blessings from Lynne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨❤️😊 🇺🇦🙏🏻🇺🇦

what fantastic craftmanship. How lucky are your your little boys to live in an environment where they will get to learn how to work with wood, how to plan to build, how to cost things (if that is where their interests lie of course) and also lucky to have a mama who sings them the donkey song ❤

Hi there - you said "animals and pets" live in the barn...curious as to what sort of "pets" the Bruderhof have and which ones would live in the barn? (I'm thinking of my 5 pound Yorkie who would be not only desolate but probably in danger of being "squashed" by another animal if he lived in a barn...!) Thank you for this! 🙂

Oh, all the handwork, I do have a big appreciation for!!! Appreciate you pointing it out!!!😉. Many of us may think things but not say it. For anyone else, power tools not only make work faster, but precise. By hand, unless skilled will show every wobble. My experience anyway, where only a true craftsman make such look so good. Wood pegged, I missed that before. Where you guys do need some more tree! Slippery Elm and American Chestnut could use some help. The latter may not survive, but it could, worth a try. I am a tree lover. Not fanatic, but a tree lover. In coastal SC, they provided a good wind break for hurricane Hugo. Many snapped like toothpicks, but if they weren't there, it could have been worse.

Are you familiar with the Mennonites? I grew up in the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Jefferson County,NY which adheres to the same dress standards as the Bruderhof and we were allowed to go to college and have have our own bank accounts. We have a lot of Mennonites in this area and people often mistook us as being Mennonites.

Hey Laura! I love watching your videos. I am 25 years old from the UK and you really help me keep in check with my faith. I feel like I don’t belong in this world, and I can truly tell you that I look up to you and hope that one day I can be as kind and happy as you, and live a fulfilled life such as yours. I wonder whether the Bruderhof and the way that you live has been influenced by Acts 3:42-47, The fellowship of the believers? Particularly verse 44-45 where all the believers were together and they sold all of their possessions. I see a lot of similarities in how the apostles and believers lived then, to how the Bruderhof live now. I’d love to get your thoughts on this and whether there are any other parts of the bible that have influenced the Bruderhof in this current age.

Hi Naomi! Thanks so much. We need to support each other in our faith journeys! You are right: the passages you mentioned are the inspiration for our common life. Here's a more in-depth look at that: www.bruderhof.com/en/our-faith/foundations/our-calling/church-community Since the beginning of our communities, we have tried to pattern our lives on the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels, based on love to God and love to neighbor. I would say that the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, 6 and 7) is key. These directions are simple and direct, and often hard to live up to. But we try. God bless you in your search! Laura

I have noticed that you do many activities with your kids within your community and have also mentioned going on camping trips. I'm wondering, do you ever participate in activities outside of your community with the general public? For example, go to a natural history museum or art gallery, visit a restaurant to try authentic foods from another culture that you don't have the tools/ingredients to prepare yourselves, go to a concert, or go to an amusement park? I suppose some of these cost money, so I'm also wondering if you could pay for it. But there are plenty of free things to do with kids outside of the community -- how do you decide if/when to participate in these types of things? Or is it generally frowned upon to participate in activities outside of the community for purely entertainment purposes? How do you balance educating your children about the outside world while living in a separate community?
@LaurafromtheBruderhof2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We participate in many activities in our neighborhood. Many go to the county fair, visit parks, attend concerts and local events. Interaction with the “general public” is very important. We do our best to give our children a well-rounded education which absolutely includes being exposed to all kinds of people and cultures, all of whom are created by and loved by God! 🧡

You are such a kind and patient mom. Your children are truly blessed. I have one question: why do you refer to yourself as "mommy Laura."
@LaurafromtheBruderhof2 жыл бұрын
That comes from Branson and Xander’s playgroups: so as to avoid confusion about which parent is being referred to (or addressed!) a child or another parent/caregiver will insert “Daddy” or “Mommy” before their name. I guess it just slipped in without me thinking🤪😊 At home we are just dad and mom! Or iterations…

You know, I'm familiar with the agrarian lifestyle Mennonite lineages have, but others are not. As Amish are popular, but Hutterites are Amish like, which Bruderhoff come from. Which northern states would seem more conducive for the life. I like it. The Bible does warn against the love for the pleasantries of life which some measure themselves by. Which it might get monotonous but sure looks like home.

We also had an indigenous barn, a farmhouse and farm animals.. they no longer exist. The reason is my grandpa didn't have a son but only a daughter who was married off. The grandchildren were made to attend school instead of learning the art of farming. Today we are poorer than our grandparents just because we gave importance to education.

Hello, Laura! I praise the Lord God, letting you enjoy such a beautiful barn, such beautiful children and such beautiful environment! I am seriously considering joining the Bruderhof Community. I've watching almost all of the videos of yours, and I wish I could join in the community. So I have questions for you: 1. Do you have church building? 2. Do you allow the strange tongues as a way of private prayers?(I checked you practice silent prayers at the meetings) 3. What is your stance about the religious pluralism? For or against? Are you religious pluralists? 4. Are you planning to let Verichip(RFID) be inserted in your hand or forehead? Some says that Verichip is '666'. I don't want to get it, but after I joined in, finally accepted from the Bruderhof Community, if you decide to get it, that's something I can't agree to. So I need to check beforehand, forgive me.

Can I ask why you refer to yourself as mommy Laura ……. Do they have another mommy as well ?
@LaurafromtheBruderhof2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. We often play together with other children in a playgroup and it can get kind of confusing when one child shouts 'mom' and all the children think their mom is coming, so I have my boys refer to me as mommy Laura. Just so it's not confusing for the other children! 😊
@swampophelia20982 жыл бұрын
@@LaurafromtheBruderhof oh ok, I’ve never heard of anyone ever doing that before as children all eventually just learn to deal with the fact that when someone shouts mommy it’s not always going to be their mommy. It’s sounded slightly like maybe the children just call all the women mommy regardless of who their own mother is
