In this short video on rock and mineral I make a winter visit to the Clark Mine near Wilberforce, Ontario - it's my recon for a summer trip when I'll be collecting fluorite and radioactives.

hey have you ever gone to Jeffrey mine in Asbestos, Québec. and do you know if you can just go and dig there
@Caver4618 жыл бұрын
+paul smit I believe I might be headed up there with the Walker mineralogical Club some time this year. Not sure of the collecting arrangements, but Ill be posting details after the trip. I am especially interested in the garnets from that location.

Mike, I loved your first book and I just received your second book a few hours ago and I can't wait to dig in. (See what I did there?...*ahem*). By the way, I love that you focus around the Bancroft area...my family cottage was on Benoir Lake in Harcourt and I had no idea there were so many other locations in that area for collecting that I've never heard about. Many road trips planned for 2016! I have a video request, can you post a video in the future about mineral extracting techniques? I scratch my head on how you get specimens out in one piece, or at least partially. Cheers.

+M. U. Great to hear that you enjoy the books. Yes I will certainly dedicate a video to that in the near future.

Man I really like your videos, but why does the video doesn't fit to screen? Its a simple edit in movie maker
@Caver4618 жыл бұрын
+Lord Random Just kind of mixing it up I guess - sometimes I stretch it out, sometimes I fit it to full screen - no real reason other than vague feelings as to its appearance. Sometimes it looks good, other times its lacking. You a rockhound? I know I've spoken to you before.

Caver461 I wouldn't call my self a rockhound, but I do love minerals. Check Geoworld on facebook, its my work.

is the Clark mine Public Accessible????
@Caver4617 жыл бұрын
The mine itself seems to be on vacant land, but the old route up there now has a hose backing onto it.

Clark mine and Tripp offer some good specimens Michael!! Just curious, I don't think any of your videos are captured on a nice day, LOL!! usually raining etc... Is it just bad luck?? Andrew..

+CoinandRelicOntario Can't wait to hit the Tripp mine this summer and re-visit this one. I had visited Tripp many years back but had not found anything all that interesting, but I've since seen some really great stuff on the internet from that location so I'll be having another shot at it. As for the weather - I usually get a mind to go out either for caves or rocks and once committed, irrespective of the weather I will continue with the plan. I fell several times on the ice during the filming of this video hence the snow all over me. The track was steep as can be and if you did not break through the crust you slid across the top of it.

+Caver461 LOL, visited the McDonald mine in the winter once, the winter before they rehabilitated it, was amazing to see with all the ice. I can show you the trenches at Tripp where the radioactives and apatites are found.. Would have to see if we could manage a trip, no pun intended. The Kemp prospect is good as well..My email is andrewpjrock@gmail.com..
