Massy Stores recently launched a new store in Siparia and as part of an initiative to engage local farmers, they have partnered with Whyfarm to supply local produce to their store.
According to Mr. Alpha Sennon, Founder and Executive Director at Whyfarm, this collaboration has not only provided local farmers with the opportunity to satisfy a steady demand for local produce but has also created opportunities for local farmers to produce value added products.
These partnerships create great synergy between local farmers and supermarkets chains that push us further to realize the goal of food security here in Trinidad & Tobago.
We would like to thank Alpha and his family for their kind hospitality as well as the folks at Massy Stores for collaborating with EatAhFood to bring you this episode of GrownHome.
Be sure to check out the Whyfarm Facebook Page for more information.

Hi Kathleen you have my grandmother’s maiden name. However, if you want to not use chemicals to repel insects you can try tobacco. One of my elders at church taught me that and here in Connecticut it proves to work in the Spring/Summer. Soak the tobacco in water and sprinkling it on the soil near the plant. You can even leave a few droppings all over. You can try it.
