Those look nice ! A quick , pie. Remove stem and seeds. Add some vinegar, spray after they are rinsed. Slice them. The little pies , with the tart pastry , from our bakery in USA really gets the fresh items from a king ? God Bless us.

I’m now 66: I’ve never been a lover of fruit. My wife badgered me continuously for weeks, “ at your age you need the vitamins” I got that for weeks. Ok , I’ll eat some fresh fruit. As a regular at Waitrose we naturally went to them. What a total disappointment. Plums, dry and tasteless , strawberries, sour or tasteless, went back and bought some different plums, once again dry and tasteless. We decided to try Sainsbury, see what they were like, the same, dry tasteless British fruit. At 66 I won’t be trying fruit again, total waste of money , foreign might be better but British fruit is total rubbish.

Same with veg as well. People demand, or so we are told, that they want large perfect fruit and veg. Then the supermarkets demand that from the grower. Cox's are a classic example. They are a naturally small apple of about 55mm/21/4" but they are not big enough for the consumer so the supermarkets only buy the very biggest, which is a small percentage and don't pay much anyway. So that the fruit is not thrown away the growers put on a lot more water and nitrogen to increase the size. But because it is forced it looses flavour and shelf life. I grow my own apples and strawberries along with much of the veg we eat. It is organic and grown "hard" so the plant works harder. Yes smaller crops, but the flavours are awesome.
