I lived a stone's throw from the castle for a number of years. The view of those magnificent ramparts and the sound of the lone piper playing from them each evening never got old. I can't say the same of the one o'clock gun though! I miss the city, so your video guides give me a nice reminder.

Hi David, So glad to see another video of Edinburgh. I've been to the city seven times and every time I always make the castle of one my first stops. The magnificent edifice that overlooks the city never ceases to to amaze me. How fortunate you are to be able to look up and see those incredible ramparts any time you wish. Thanks so much. Take care and be well.

Really enjoyed your video. I was lucky enough to visit Edinburgh twice from Louisiana USA. And I’d come back at any opportunity. My friends say, “but there are so many more places to explore across the pond”, and I reply that there is only one place that will ever touch my heart like Scotland and Edinburgh.

Great video David and so useful giving the tram information for visitors. It’s a shame the weather was so wet but the shots were beautiful and you’ve inspired us to visit soon 😊

HI David, I loved that you included info about how to get there. Seeing the airport and tram is easying my anxiety. The rain did the opposite. I hope i'll have nicer weather ! thank you for this lovely video, i learned a few helpful tips.

Going to Edinburgh this May with my sisters. Our grandmother was from a Bordertown, Hawick, spending s few days there and 4 in Edinburgh, the rest in London. Have been doing a lot of research on the family….looking forward to seeing the Castle. Nicely done.

I was at the Castle today, raining and crowded. Thanks for showing me what was hard to see with the crowds.

Great video! What would your advice be for someone with mobility issues getting around the castle? Can I bring a small motorized scooter in for my senior Mom to get around?

Hi, David, I have an odd question: I know what it is, but does the word "maud" symbolize anything in Scotland? If so, can the symbolic term be tied in any reasonable way to Edinburgh Castle, if not symbolically then materially? Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Hi, thanks for the question. I've always known it being the Scots word for a shawl, but doing an internet search wikipedia says "is an Old German name meaning "powerful battler"" which is really interesting. Perhaps there might be something in that to research? All the best, David :-)
@profoundgreetingsfromneptune4 ай бұрын
@@DavidWheaterScotland Thanks so much for your response. Yes, my understanding was that was a gray plaid shawl formerly worn by southern Scottish shepherds. I'd yet to come across the "powerful battler" reference but will definitely chase that up in the hopes of finding a connection. Thanks so much again for your response. I definitely wanted to ask a Scotsman.
