I am afraid the low turn out mirrors who Albion were playing. No disrespect intended but Aldershot in the third round of the cup does not generate any excitement and to be honest is viewed as a pain in the ass match. That is why the team was made up of the Academy kids, a couple of fringe squad players and a returning striker who has been out injured for around 250 days. At the end of the game there was only one first team player on the pitch. But I totally understand Aldershot's excitement and enthusiasm for this sort of match. It's what the FA Cup was always about. Great support from your lot. They are a credit to the club. But Saturday its back to business for us. Blackburn Rovers at home. 25,000 in the ground and a first eleven team on the pitch.

Sad reflection on the FA Cup today-it used to be on a par with winning the league, every match in every round would have been near capacity and the whole country gripped by it....the FA have trashed the competition-soon to be one game only then penalties ;nothing can revive it. Teams used to get fined for fielding weakened teams in the league-saving players for the FA Cup. Nobody cares now. Big shame-tarnishes what Jeff Astle woin for you in 1968-must have set the whole area alight with pride back then. Win it today, it's all forgotten a fortnight later.
