We recently took a short trip to the Keys and one of our stops was the beautiful, sunny Islamorada. This came just after our visit to Sanibel and Captiva Islands just 2 weeks before Hurricane Ian came. We enjoyed renting a boat and taking our own little private snorkeling trip. It was great to be out on the water without the crowds. When the storm came we hightailed it over to Islamorada Fish Company where we were able to tie off the boat and have some food and beer at the bar. Today as the outer bands of the storm are pummeling the keys and the southwest coast of Florida, we pray that they are spared major devastation.

Ian is past the Keys, Central Florida is going to be hit next. All we got here in Key Largo was intermittent rain and light winds.

The eye of Ian is widening. Generally the stronger the hurricane the smaller the eye.
