I lived in Castle Combe back in 1976. The house(s) I lived in you can see just to the right at the end of the bridge 6:02 the one with the peaked entrance. The house belonged to my then fiancee's parents. The house in fact consists of two houses. The stone faced house and the white house with the peaked entrance beside it. They purchased both houses and connected them. We lived there for 6 months. It was very quiet indeed. Back then, as today there were no street lights. There were two pubs in the Market Square. One for the locals and one for the tourists. The one for the locals had a parrot and a beer drinking dog. This is the village where they filmed part of the original Dr Doolittle movie. Fun fact the wall along the creek was built for the movie Dr. Doolittle and only dates from the 1960's. The only problem we used to have was when buses of tourists would visit the village. They thought that no one lived in the houses and they often just walked into the house unannounced. That was always fun.

Wow what did they think, it was a ghost town? A museum town? 😂
@linengray4 жыл бұрын
@@kit2130 No they were just American tourists who were told that they filmed Doctor Doolittle in the town.

Linen Gray oh! Maybe they thought it was like an empty stage set, just for filming. Still very strange though. They must have misunderstood!!

Best video of yours EVER!!! Well, of the moment for me anyway. I have only just discovered you a month or so ago and have been making my way through your archive slowly and randomly. This one was such a great slice of life, edited so beautifully in a creative way. I could tell how disappointed and upset Carlo was at not getting that stew, lol! Carlo and Skye kiss at the end was heartwarming and lovely. I value family so much and I can see that you all do as well. Much love to you Nicki, and your family :)

I'm viewing some of your older video vlogs and this was TWO years ago?!☃️ Cool! This is an interesting, historical, newsy video. So much fun and thoroughly enjoyable seeing you in the UK for Christmas. I can only imagine how much you're missing your father this year but I trust he is staying healthy and hopefully he had a happy Christmas. Your 🎄tree looks GREAT Nicki. I can't believe how much Skye has changed in two short years.. she could now pass as a model. Thank you for the excursion, awww yummy pub food, lovely scenery, tours and preparation for Christmas. THANK YOU dear Nicki, Carlo and Skye. LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU! 😘😘😘

@Nicki Positano, 😮 HI CARLO, it is a wonderful surprise to hear from you! Your words are very kind and thoughtful....thank you so much. I enjoy seeing you on Nicki's vlog. You look more relaxed than in the videos from a year ago. Your English is excellent Carlo but it is also terrific to hear you conversing with Nicki in Italian. I'm not so good in Italian and Spanish but I keep working at it. 🎄Did you and Nicki and Skye have a peaceful Christmas? Did you go to your parents home for Christmas Eve dinner? It was very quiet here. Unfortunately I did not have my family together for the day. I really miss them. Every special occasion my family gather together but this Christmas was most peculiare / strano. I couldn't see my mother and I was VERY sad. My father suddenly died, one month of being diagnosed with cancer... and I miss him too! I have one older brother and one older sister but I did not get to see them at Christmas. I went to see my sister and brother-in-law for a few minutes, but I had to stand outside their door with a facial mask. VERY strange! È stata un'esperienza molto strana. Here in Ontario, Canada we went into full lockdown on Christmas. Everything is closed except grocery stores, gas stations and only essential goods. Some people are very angry about lockdown and there are people like me who try to accept things as they are. (Laughing). What else can we do? Così è la vita, giusto Carlo?😊 Carlo, I appreciate your messages and I hope you continue to write messages, it is wonderful. I REALLY love all the video vlogs Nicki produces. I know it is costly to purchase video and camera equipment, it takes creativity and talent in coming up with ideas and a great deal of time and energy in producing two videos every week. I'm not exaggerating when I say, they are truly exceptional!! Having toured Italy, it brings back fabulous memories. Nicki, you Carlo and Skye are so down-to-earth /authentic and transparent and quite frankly it is refreshing to see. I've rambled on and on and must stop. Ho parlato troppo e spero che tu non sia troppo annoiato. 💓 THANK YOU so much for the videos and for writing replys to my comments. 💓 I hope Skye and Nicola are enjoying their time together. I send you and Nicki my love and many hugs. Hug for Holly and kitty too. Love, Susan XOXOXO

I read that wealthy landowners would hire people to live in the garden follies as "hermits" to be basically garden decoration. Like live versions of garden gnomes and pink flamingos.
