I have a story about Tennessee Ernie Ford and his wife Betty too. Back in the 1970’s my Momma worked in the laundry room at the local Country Club ( at the time this was the only CC in Enid, Oklahoma., there are now 2). Anyhow there’s a gathering at Oakwood Country Club in Enid, Oklahoma of several celebrities ( momma met Lee Majors and Farrah Fawcett Majors then too) They came to Enid for the Grand National Quail Hunt and the celebrities would meet at Oakwood CC for the banquet to celebrate. Anyhow Momma said that both Ernie and Betty were well mannered and they took time to talk to her just as if she was another celebrity. We had always listened to Tennessee Ernie Ford’s singing at home. It was so nice of them to treat the workers just like they did everyone else.

I grew up watching Ernie with my family. My dad watched everything he was in. He was a huge fan of Ernie Ford. Had his 33 vinyl that he played over and over. My very favorite was when Ernie was on the Lucy show staying with the Riccardos. They were trying to get him to leave so Lucy acted like a wild city woman. Lol. She ranher fingers through Ernies hair and he asked if she was vamping him. When she said yes he said he liked it. My older sister and i laughed so hard. This brought back so many great memories for me. Thank you Steve. I love your graveyard videos. Always so respectful and good info. God bless you and Jim 🙏🥰

Steve I really enjoy your videos on both channels. Have you ever visited the Chicago area cemeteries? Lots of interesting ones. The strangest thing that ever happened to me at a cemetery, happened one early Saturday morning. I go to this particular cemetery quite often to take my walks and visit my parents and many friends, relatives and neighbors. One day, it was just starting to snow and the graves had just a dusting on them. As I was leaving the grave of a former neighbor, I stopped to tie my shoes and put my water bottle down on a gravestone. I looked at the name and it was that of a grade school and highschool classmates. What are the odds of that happening? This was at Holy Sepulchre, just outside the Chicago city limits. There are the cemeteries on the same stretch of street and a couple others just a couple blocks South, including Restvale, which is the final resting place of many Blues singers and musicians who got their start in Chicago. Also just east of Holy Sepulchre, is Mount Olivet, which is the final resting place of many early Chicagoans from the near west and south side of Chicago. Then there is Queen of Angels on the western perimeter of Chicago, in Hillside, which has a beautiful memorial to many of the children and nuns who died in the Our Lady of The Angels, Catholic School Fire on December 1, 1958. Just a few blocks from there are a couple Jewish cemeteries with many prominent Jewish people, including Robert Reed and Mike Todd. Further north in the city, many of Chicago's earliest and most prominent citizens - Marshall Field, The Potters, the early mayors of Chicago and many others are laid to rest. I'll be your chauffeur if you come to Chicago. Best to come in the Spring or Fall, I don't think you California guys would appreciate the cold and freezing winds and snow we sometimes get.

This reminds me of the Simpsons episode where they go to Branson, Missouri and see a show about celebrities who were thought to be dead, but aren’t. Grandpa sees Tennessee Ernie Ford and says that he knows for certain that he’s dead. Ernie denies it, but once grandpa shows him the obituary he always keeps with him, Ernie immediately disintegrates. Lol classic.

What happened to the donation tab on your videos Steve? Also, I wanted to thank you for one of your videos. I was trying to find Moe Howard at Hillside and just couldn’t find it. Finally, looked up the video from your visit and found it right away. Thanks!

Hi K, I’m glad you found the video! 😀👍 I turned off my donation buttons because I am no longer visiting grave sites as much as I used to. I plan to continue visiting gravesites For many years to come, but I just want to do it on my own schedule. Maybe I shouldn’t, but when I accept donations from yours, then I feel a sense of obligation to have to do this like a job. Without the donations, I don’t feel the pressure. And now that I’m retired the last thing I wanna feel is pressure or stress. I absolutely appreciate all of your support though and just watching my videos is more than enough support! 😀👍
