This was such a huge news story during the summer of 2001. I was captivated by it. Then 9/11 happened and it was buried by that terrible horror of events that happened on that day. Still would like to see her murder solved.

This dominated the news like crazy in 2001. In fact I was on vacation on 9/11 and woke up and turned on the news. This again was the dominant news story and I turned off the TV. Within the hour the 9/11 attacks happened and the story no longer led the headlines.

I lived in DC when Chandra went missing. Rock Creek Park is about 3 miles from Chandra’s apartment. Her pocket book and cellphone were found in her apartment. Among other things, her May 1st internet search included Rock Creek Park, and its headquarters there. Her skeletal remains were found with a sports bra, leggings and running shoes. She had been an intern at the Federal Bureau of Prisons to satisfy her Master’s requirements at USC, in public administration. She had already earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of San Francisco in journalism. She was to return to California to graduate. Personally, I think she was to meet someone in Rock Creek Park to run. I think she was murdered by a stranger en route, or she met who she had intended to, and they were responsible for her death. A while after her body was discovered, her tibia had been found with wire coiled around it. Her autopsy revealed damage to her hyoid bone, suggesting strangulation was the cause of death. Her killer got away with murder. This case will probably never be solved. So, young, beautiful, and educated, it’s sad for her life to end so abruptly with out answers. RIP Chandra.

I remember this story as well! I remember being frustrated that women would still go jogging alone and they still do it today. My opinion, I’ve always felt Gary Condit had something to do with it. I still glad that other criminal was deported out of our country. Thanks for sharing Steve. Love every one of your videos!

I certainly remember this and how the press rushed to judgement and convicted Gary Condit in the court of public opinion. As is so often the case even today a money making sensational headline is more important than the facts. Meanwhile this poor woman’s murder goes free. Shamefull!

In the 90s i spent a lot of time in this park with my mom and my gfs. I was super creeped out when this case happened. It was very sad, she was so smart and i still feel really bad for her parents. She probably would have had a beautiful life had she lived. The affair with that political married man was absolutely ridiculous. His poor wife got dragged through the news and harassed and humiliated. 💔💔💔🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🥺🥺🥺
