I always liked the "Were you invited?" door mats. ;) I don't think I'd be very trustful of anyone who believes they can just show up at your door or property and think they "have the right" or deserve to be welcomed unconditionally.

I think this topic has been discussed a couple times over the years. I cannot believe that people think showing up to your home uninvited is ok! Of course it would be cool to hang out with Hickok but truth of the matter is, there are a few million people all around the world that are thinking the same thing. There is a big difference between public and private property. Your home is private property, your rules, your privacy; hence the word private in the phrase private property. Saying hi at a gun show gun store, ect. is in public on public property. Big difference.

I've been a pastor and a preacher for over 30 years. And I had to be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. That was not a problem, just part of it. But I discovered early on I needed a call before you come policy. And a I'll meet you at the church policy, too many people wanted to come and spend the day. (Sad but true)

I don't even like strangers coming up knocking on the front door, and unfortunately I live in the city. That is the reason any celebrity has seclusion and security. Out in public, as you stated, it's kinda fair game as long as folks are courteous and respectful. I can personally attest to the fact that both John and his father are both approachable and friendly in the proper environment (in my case, a show at Bud's some years ago).
