Hey guys! Have you ever visited a real life anime location or have one you want to visit? Shima onsen was great - we could see the inspiration for Spirited Away and also relax in the onsen 😅

I just returned from a trip there and stayed at Kashiwaya Ryokan, which was an extraordinary experience. It is a small place, about 12 rooms with private and public (for guests) onsens. Service and details were at a very high level, and we ordered vegan meals, which were outstanding. If you want vegan, you have to book those in advance. I think this is the best ryokan in Shima.

Thank you for sharing you experience! Took a quick look at the photos online of Kashiwaya Ryokan and it looks beautiful 😍 So nice they cater to vegans as well.

It seems a lot of people find Gunma surprisingly nice and beautiful!

Yeah we really like it! It's got a lot of great onsen's and nature. But I recently saw a Japanese survey of the most beautiful prefectures in Japan and Gunma was in the bottom 5 😭 Haha so I guess not everyone feels the same.

Beautiful place. How nice to be able to sleep wrapped in the sound of the river... At night it is certainly more poetic... :) And what a nice thing about the musical road hehe Great trip. Regards

Ooh you agree about night then haha. Yeah the musical roads are interesting! Hopefully we can come across some others in the countryside 😁 Thanks for watching!

The inspiration for the location of Spirited Away was in Japan,where was confirmed by Hayao Miyazaki. However,the real-life vibe that initially became famous was in Jiufen,Taiwan.

Yes we’ve heard that! It’d be a great place to visit. Have you been there yourself?

Me and my family are going to book soon. I'm quite confused and want to make sure. They say the bath and toilets are shared, do they mean shared in a room or everyone in the building? Like a public bathroom? Just to make sure you aren't confused or anything, i'm asking about Sekizenkan inn.
@RoyandAimee Жыл бұрын
Hello! Yeah I just had a look and it seems to be shared amongst all guests. A lot of the time in Japanese inns there will be no bath in the room because it's thought guests will use the onsen but most times inns will have rooms with toilets included as well. It seems as though Sekizenkan is only offering shared toilet rooms though. If that's a deal breaker, there are quite a few inns in the same town that will have non-shared bath and toilet rooms.
