Very cool, and his accent is really clear. Usually I need subtitles when listening to Scottish.

Yeah, he definitely had a clear and commanding voice. I loved listening to his stories :)

I went to Culloden in 1971 c/w a local amateur historian from Inverness. My Clan MacKinnon fought c/w Clan MacDonald. We didn't fare well. Swords vs. Muskets. Eventually my Great Grandfather emigrated to Wapella, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1883.

Norman McKinnon that's fascinating! We sure heard stories about the MacDonald's!

That is pretty cool about your family history. I wish I knew more about my own. All I know is that the Birchfield's are located throughout the UK, with the Birchfield Harrier's, there's a Birchfield Manor, and a Birchfield field or street in Scotland. If I look up information for the family, all I really get is a bunch of fluff that is likely just created to get money instead of the real truth of the family name. I know that there is some very strong beliefs that our family has, particularly about the Campbell name, and I wonder where it all came from.

Taking out 7 redcoats with one slash of his knife ? MacRambo? I think the rifle with the long 18 inch bayonet on the end might have been a bit of a deterrent from getting close enough to do that !

I'd like to hear the bagpipe player. I'm in the North of England but my music teacher played piano for Kenneth McKeller so he taught us all the Scottish songs. Speed Bonnie Boat.

I've got a book on Scotland I've never read yet. I should know more about Scotland. It's on my list now :) I have been to Edinburgh. The views and the tour of the castle is good. I was looking forward to the Scotland one and Skye. The wild weather made it more atmospheric, Audrey running across the bridge

I'm a Cumbrian and my ancestors fought at the battle, Im proud of my patriot British ancestor, down to the Jacobite upstart and up to the union🇬🇧. If you listen very carefully you can just here the faint sound of the grenadier Guards pipers and drummers .

"A tour guide taking the pi** out of people who no doubt paid him lots of money" Samual and Audrey, firstly may I say how much I enjoy watching your excellent travel videos. What really annoys me is when organisations like Haggis Adventures give false information to tourists and make up things to make their tours seem genuine and interesting. The guide starts by saying " no jokes" "no humour" " respect" this is a massive war grave" Culloden Battle Field is indeed a massive war grave and should be given respect as such. Later in the video he conducts a demonstration on how to disembowel people and slit their jugulars. I find doing such a thing on a war grave highly disrespectful. Where was his respect? The part that really annoyed me was his stupid story about the "wee blind piper" who plays every year on the anniversary. A piper does indeed play on the anniversary, but up until the last two years its been friends of mine, either Darren McR or Andrew McL. His story about the "wee blind piper" is utter tosh !!! No doubt created to give his tour some substance, why can`t he stick to the facts, instead of adding bullshit fiction! His information about Clava was also inaccurate. People bringing back stones due to bad things happening to them. ? Fiction fact number two! .. I live three miles from Culloden and it saddens me to see its location and all of the people who sacrificed so much, to be represented in such a disrespectful manner. All for the sake of lining their pockets !

amc3 Thank you! If Dave exaggerated quite a bit on our tour, he made up for it I suppose with passion. I can totally see how this would be annoying from your perspective given the background information you know. I suppose when traveling it is always good to question the information you are receiving and to fact check things for yourself.
@amc310 жыл бұрын
Samuel & Audrey Thanks S&A, it just annoys me when people ask others for respect, than fail to practice it themselves. Also making up stories about blind pipers, what was that all about? Scotland has enough wonderful and natural history without some guy from Glasgow with a summer job, adding stupid stories. LOVE your videos, keep them coming please.

Perdomot , Dave was a cool guy actually. He probably comes across as being more serious (in this video) but for the better part of the tour he was cracking jokes.
