#Japan is open for tourism!! In this #vlog, I'm exploring #tsukijimarket. In 2018, the main wholesale sector of this market (at that time, the largest fish market in the entire world!!) was transferred to a new location in #Tokyo -- #Toyosu #Market. But... is there anything left at the former world's largest fish market? Let's find out and maybe get some breakfast while we're at it. Join me :)
Cheers, Nick :)

Definitely definitely suggest getting an IC card, it makes it so much easier to just scan in and out of train stations here. You can also use them in a lot of places to pay and vending machines as well. Also super easy to fill with money

I lived in Tokyo for a year at the turn of the millennium and I still have many food memories that are very vivid. The quality is beyond amazing and needs to be experienced to be understood. It was really cool to see all the seasonal products get celebrated through the year. Happy Travels

You should make daily vlogs of Japan and record every food that you eat even if its from convenience store.

The filming and production is superb. Amazing work. it's really outstanding. Little bit clueless. But that's fine and fun. That's what differ this from tv programs we used to see. But it is fine and feels nice. While the work puts into this is really amazing.

The price of the Kaisen Don depends on the seafood quality such as different parts of the tuna or different regions of the urchin even the rice.

Welcome to Japan! Just wanted to comment that Uni also have different grades and levels. Really good uni is expensive but taste heavenly. Please try “unitora” at Tsukiji next time. Their Kaisendon is completely different level and worth spending money on it.

On my itinerary on my upcoming trip. I learned a new crab restaurant opened above the Lawson as seen in the beginning of the video. Pay 3000 yen for a seafood bowl, tempura, crab leg set and an additional 2000 yen for a snow crab buffet.

Oh, quality differs. That's what the fish market was about. You get different cuts, different quality from different sources "within this one market". There are hundreds of sellers. And even with the same seller you can get different quality from them. That's why a top chef or restaurant have to maintain a good relationship with it's suppliers and vise versa. A more expensive one doesn't always means better, that is true. But sometimes it is really different when it is really offering a superior cut or quality fish for the price. There are some nice manga about the old Tsukiji market sellers and also some manga about sushi chef and their relationship with the market. Worth a read someday if are interested about the subject and the food. for example 'Tsukiji Uogashi Sandaime' There is a nice book '築地魚河岸猫の手修業' by Kyoko Fukuchi but I think it has not been translated yet, didn't find the info.

When are market like Tsukiji is that huge with such high transaction volume, mostly sold to professionals, price finding is very efficient and the most expensive is almost always better indeed, cant get away with overcharging anyone for long.

9:41 It's a "Rice bowl on top of Organ meats stew". モツ煮込み丼 or ホルモン丼 in Japanese. To me as a Japanese, it looks like probably "miso and soy sauce" based flavor.

May I ask a quick question.....could I fly to Japan without booking a hotel..and find one when I get there?.....I can't focus on accommodation when looking to book..it's all to much for me....I feel I would be better just finding a hotel when I get there....head to where I want to be and then look about...Thanks.

@@travelfareatlocal That's what I as thinking...Thing is..how do folks go from one hotel to the next...like city to city?....when you've only given one hotel name...Or is is JUST for the entry form and after that you can go anywhere..Sorry I know these questions my seem simple to you..but I have trouble taking things in and so get anixous and confused....I am trying to get answers to questions I have but can't find....Thank You.
