Thank you so much! I've been a tea lover my whole life, and just recently came up with the idea of going to - authentic - tea houses like the one you showed in this video. I'm in Maryland, so DC is just a train ride away. I can't wait to visit the tea houses in DC when the pandemic is over. Valley Brook Tea will be my first stop!

Glad that I helped you finding good tea! I think they are open even now and have the patio, so it is quite safe to drink tea even in COVID time.

Many Thx for sharing this very pleasing Tea House. Western Layout with a Japanese aesthetic feeling, serving Fujian grown tea in the Chinese style.... perfection .. I wish every success for this family tea house. cheers john

The owner has some of the best tea I have ever had the pleasure of drinking (and I am a snob of the highest order). Definitely worth checking this place out

I agree. My favorite are the Yan Cha. They offer different Wuyi Rock teas with a very clear and unique taste profile. Da hong pao is the classic Yan Cha taste, Rougui is heavily roasted and intense (but still clean in taste. Purity and strength are different to combine). The Golden Peony is milder and more aromatic.

How did I miss that you’re in DC? I love Valley Brook and honestly mostly want to be able to return to work so I can go back! Also, if you want a really good French pastry, check out Un Je Ne Sais Quoi on Connecticut in Dupont 😉

Un Je Ne Sais Quoi is definitely better than Le Pain Quotidien for pastries and it was almost on the way from home to Valley Brook Tea. If you are also in DC, what about doing a video together? I am not always in DC but come often.

@@nannuoshan I would love to do a video together, but I'm in Maryland and not very comfortable with metro just yet ;)

Thank you for this video Gabriele. Perhaps it's a foolish dream, but I *think* I'd like to open a teahouse in Minneapolis/St. Paul someday. (Aren't foolish dreams the best kind?) My teahouse would focus on the art and mindful practice of tea. It would be as much an art community as a tea community. Low overhead, specific focus, not trying to be too much. We'd offer meditation, friendship, and tea learning. What do you think? Anyone else interested in collaborating?

Hi Marcus, it is a dream of many tea lovers to open a teahouse and indeed is something we also did at Nannuoshan. Soon or later, I#ll have to film a video with my tips to open a teahouse. As I have gone through it, my experience could benefit others. As for your questions, I think that opening a teahouse, especially with the elevated scope of spreading the art of tea, is a noble undertaking. As you say, it is a dream and it shall be treated as such, with all the risks it entails. You are not speaking of business, just of dream. But a teahouse comes with some costs (sometime moderate, sometimes huge). So you want to be careful at estimating investment and running costs, and conservative in assessing potential revenues, before you get started... as a dream can also become a nightmare.

@@nannuoshan Thank you, Gabriele, for your thoughtful words of caution. I will continue dreaming, calculating, and learning. Good wishes 🌿🙏🏽
