Todd all that you're saying is sooooo true. That's why the saying goes " ELEUTHERA IT"S NOT FOR EVERYONE". But that is also why I personally love it. Reminds me of a quick story when I was living on Harbour Island. Some of the wealthier home owners pitched in and bought a new generator to run the island when power went out. After the company did the install they mentioned to the powers that be that it came with a included service contract...no extra charge. They said no that's ok we got it, thanks anyway. Not even a month later it burned up....no oil.

I was in Eleuthera , friends had a home, Kokokmo, and the power went out for 3 days. We caught our food and luckily the owner was an amazing spear fisherman. Lobster for breakfast lunch and dinner, I didn't eat lobster for a year after that. That was one of the best years out of the 3 that I went, EVER.

Couple of points: first, at 2:33, I guess you'll stop twice next time, right? BTW, I like the long drone shots throughout. There are days that I waste entirely too much time just watching drone videos from the Bahamas. It's turning into an addiction. Now, about the point you were making here: I think it comes down to where and how you were raised as a child, where you spent your formative years. I think if you were raised in a more urban environment, a city or highly developed region then you probably wouldn't like living in rural Bahamas much. The thing is, I've found that rural ANYWHERE is all pretty much the same. Those problems you bring up; spotty power supply, can't buy bread or something else, very long delivery times for anything; they're all pretty much old hat for anyone who was raised in a rural environment. The first thing I thought of, personally, when you mentioned no bread at the store is "just bake some bread then". Anyone can figure out an automatic breadmaker. The ingredients can be stored long term so just make sure you've got a bag of flour and it won't matter if there's bread at the store or not. Power's out? That's what generators are for, and one wouldn't need a really big genny for most households because it's unlikely you're ever going to need to run electric heaters. If you've spent all or most of your life within a half hour's drive of a WalMart you might just have a problem with culture shock. But if you've spent all or most of your life in a town that doesn't have a theater then living in a place like rural Bahamas would be almost like living wherever you come from, only with a very slim chance of ever experiencing the air hurting your face because of the wind chill. The only impediment, to me, is the cost of things as you touch on with the cost of an automobile. Really, a budgeting issue more than anything else. I've been researching this issue because I've got a good chance to move to rural Andros. I've spent some time there and I would really like to find a way to move there, at least as a snowbird.

Living in the winter on a mountaintop in Vermont has had its challenges too!We've already lost power twice this week with 30° temperatures.We have had to be adaptible and get a generator

Grossly exaggerated Todd!! For your viewers sake, in the next video, you may want to add some balance especially considering out of all places on earth, you chose Eleuthera… must be something positive. Don’t be overly despaired however, because the same way you came to our beautiful island, you are more than welcomed to permanently return to wherever it is you are from… perhaps there you will find your perfect peace. Nice drone shots BTW👍

OK, sounds reasonable. So what is the best way to go there and stay for months and months? Could I rent one of the properties you manage? Is there some sort of hotel with reasonable long or medium-term rates? Should I look for air BNB places? (I saw several of those when I looked into coming a while back) If I rent someplace, can I rent a car or scooter or motorcycle or electric bike, or should I use a taxi? Is there a taxi? What would be your recommendation for shelter and transportation if someone was coming for several months?
@ToddVendituoli6 жыл бұрын
Nine Hundred Dollar Luxury Yacht If you want to come for months it will depend on low season or high season. Low will have more options and lower costs. Search around for rentals online- there’s ton and then check with the car rental companies for a Long term rental.

Hi Todd, can a homeowner resident buy a car in eleuthera and save money that way?
@ToddVendituoli6 жыл бұрын
Jan Anseeuw Yes you can buy a car which would be cheaper than renting if you are going to be here for months or back and forth. Much less than that though and a car sitting for say 10 Months will probably develop issues from lack of use etc
