Hello! Hope you're having a warm & cozy day so far! In this vlog, I spent the day at home making a new sashiko thimble to replace my old one using scrap fabrics. I also made a new pin cushion using a pattern from one of my sashiko books! I had a lot of fun making them and I'm really happy with how they turned out! After finishing these mini projects, I started preparing for my next big project! If you like slow stitching and sashiko, I hope you will enjoy this video!
If you enjoyed this video, please consider subscribing and give it a like! Comments would be great as well! It will really help the channel! Really appreciate it! Thank you for stopping by! 🌸

the coin was ingenious, although I'm sure it made your prior thimble heavier than the new one w/cardboard will be!! I adore the fabric you chose for your pincushion, & with the sashiko, it turned out too cute. I enjoy everything you do, so am looking forward to seeing your new desktop mat. Here's to warmer days to work in the garden soon!! 😍

We always just plant cat grass, nip, etc, is what we call an azalea pot. It is wide and sort of shallow. Our cats love to lay in the stuff. We found this our years ago when we first planted it in a 12” pot. They constantly laid in it. This is why we went to a wider, more shallow pot. They are so funny sleeping in it and rolling around in it. We did not plant it in the ground since it is part of the mint family. She will have such a good time when it starts coming up. We also have to plant several pots. Thank you for your videos. They are enjoyable and informative

I want to try sashiko it's just I read up the stitches have to be even my stitching can be inconsistent. I have specialist needles and book. The shape of pincushion reminds me of biscornu I used to make with cross stitch patterns I find on Pinterest. Everyone seems to stitch beautifully. I won't know till I attempt sashiko myself. I loved the EPP cover in last video.
@kikosabi
@kikosabi 7 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! I find that its easier for me to stitch evenly and straight with sashiko compared to regular hand sewing. The needle is longer and thicker and the thimble helps stabilize the end of the needle. Sashiko is really fun. Please give it a try! ❤️

I made the same-style pin cushion, but a big one, like the one that fits in the lacquer bowl you transferred your scraps to. I needed a cover because I didn't want our furry thief to pull out the pins. And hide all rubberbands. She stole it from two bottles I banded together. The bottles were on the floor but we couldn't find the rubberband. My other daughter's cat ate a whole bunch and had to get it surgically removed. You know the idiom about curious cats, it's true. They get into everything. I can't wait for your next project and to see if Mochi will eat the grass. If it works I may purchase one.
@kikosabi
@kikosabi 5 күн бұрын
Mochi likes to steal things too. I'm always worried she might swallow something she shouldn't. She's training me to be more mindful of the things I leave out and to put things away right away. 😅

I have been wondering for a few weeks how are called the wooden tubes (?) you use to wraps and store your Sashiko threads on ? Is there a reason you did the pieces of th thimble individually instead of just sandwiching the 2 pieces of card with the fabric and then just sewing the fabric like you would regularly see two pieces together? Or was this just a different way to do it?
