why does bitemporal hemiapnoia cause blindness in the temporal region when the lesion is at the point of the nasal branches - shouldn't there be nasal blindness?
@karthickr61215 жыл бұрын
bro,... its kinda reverse for visual field ... eg,.. let temporal field{vision } is perceived in nasal part of retina ,...left nasal field {vision} is perceived on rt temp retina and vice versa,.... its a common misunderstanding dude ,....so if u see in optic tract lesion ,..accrding to ur current {mis}understanding, if ur havin a defect in right optic tract u are supposed to have rt sided homonymous hemianopia , .....BUT IN REALITY IF U APPLY THIS FIELD OF VISION CROSSIN CONCEPT U will understand tat its actually left sided homonymous hemianopia u get ,...

What would happen if the optic chiasm were severed, completely in the middle?

Hi, thank you so much for the fantastic video. I have a question: in right optic nerve damage both halves of the visual field of the ipsilateral eye are gone (right monocular anopia), why not the temporal half of the same side and the nasal half of the opposite side? Considering that nasal half of the right retina receives images from the same side temporal field and the temporal half of the right retina receives images from the nasal half of the contralateral visual field? Thank you so much, in advance
@MedEdPRO4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, thank you for your comment. What you have explained is true of a right-sided optic tract lesion but it does not hold true for an optic nerve lesion due to the crossing over of the nasal retinal fibres at the optic chiasm. Hopefully, if you closely study the diagram in the video you will have some more clarity.

Would have been still better if defects were shown in black rather than white...but still this is the best available video amongst all...kindly elaborate on incongruous and congruous...
@drnykterstein_7 жыл бұрын
i dont understand the quadrantanopia. do the myer and baum fibre decussate on the chiasm?
@drnykterstein_7 жыл бұрын
ok never mind i got it! So, left meyer fiber only comprise inferior fibres from left quadrant of the two eyes(temporal and crossed nasal) and viceversa.

this is abit confusing at 3:17 you show the temporal visual field as WHITE and you say its losT !! black color is standard for cant see in it in texts
