Hopefully this can clear up some confusion. Experiencing Visual Snow does not automatically mean that you have Visual Snow Syndrome, or any of the other conditions that can cause it :)

I’ve got a lot of visual snow or as I describe blue/white sparks or camera flash every where and a unreal amount of floaters . And eye doctors say my eyes area fine . Turns out they could be , my neck isn’t lined up rite and it’s pinching my Vegas nerve/artery and that’s causing pain behind my left eye and many of my other symptoms, going to get my neck fixed . So if you got a similar story and your spine or neck don’t feel right get it checked out . I felt hopeless till I found out about that

Sorry max I think I might have been one of those that called it snow blindness! In my defence because I have a sort of word blindness I cannot spell and the phone does most of the spelling! So I will call it VSS if that's ok! I really look forward to your new video's every Saturday! You have helped me come to terms with my gender issues,and if The operation does not work on my good eye I will be permanently deafblind! It scares the crap out of me having to use a long cane!so Its time to speak to the RNIB! But falling over could be worse! I got used to being deaf! But seeing everything all blurred is getting to me! You have never seen white paper! I can't ever see 3D or look through binoculars! Plus I even use CC to watch your video's incase I miss something important! From what I can tell you have a lovely voice! Your an amazing person! Check your kofi's from last week! That's a small thank u for taking the time to reply! Loads don't bother! # deafblind & queer & now proud of it 💜💜

Don’t worry this wasn’t aimed at you at all 🧡 I’d been asked to do visual snow vs visual snow syndrome a while back, and someone got grumpy in my DMs about wanting to call it snow blindness instead lol

Hi max,I have just taken the time to read(large font yuk) to read your stories from the link below! They were so interesting! When you first used a wheelchair! I have used a wheelchair but not so much during lockdown! I have 3 degenerating discs in my lower back! Which are too dangerous to operate on! And getting rid of all the dead name stuff! It took guts to change your name etc! One quote had me in stitches! This is as near as I can remember it! " I could f**k all night and Be the best you had" your refreshingly honest! But what I want to ask is where can I buy those silver chains that attach to your glasses so you don't lose them? They are so cool! I used to have cords attached to my hearing aids so I don't lose them but they got in the way with masks! Even with the crap your suffering from you always have a smile on your face! None of your video's or stories are ever boring! I don't feel so alone when I know your going through similar stuff with your hearing & sight loss! I hope that I get to go to a pride march in a dress with my red & white long cane if my operation fails or only partially works! You have shown me max that anything is possible & we get a post of you saying sod it I am deafblind & I am going to use my cane! We both know we need canes just like we need hearing aids & you need those yellow lenses! ❤️❤️💕💕

Thank you for talking about this! I just recently watched your original video on Visual Snow Syndrome, and all I could think was "wait, that's not normal??" Based on your explanation here, I likely do indeed have VSS, not just visual snow. Do you have any advice on how I should go about being evaluated?
@smudge8882

I've seen an eye doctor and been evaluated regularly for eye issues because my mom has retinitis pigmentosa (a degenerative eye disease) but I always test negative for everything.

I took my research to my regular opticians (Specsavers) and asked for an optometrist that had either heard of VSS before or was keen to look at research on it, and lo and behold they had one who was a bit of both

Do you have palinopsia or afterimage, if yes, how you deal with them?
@OuchMouse
@OuchMouse 3 жыл бұрын
I do! And to be honest, I don't really deal with them, I just live with them. I was born with VSS, so it's just become a part of my normal life. If it gets in the way of me reading, I either use a screen reader if I'm trying to read off a screen, or if it's paper I either stop for the day or ask someone to read it to me. I avoid strobe lighting like the plague, and I keep my tinted lenses on to reduce the amount of light getting in. Mostly due to light sensitivity, but the brighter something is, the worse its after image will be for me. Hope this helps!
