Hi Doctor Lyndon. Could you please explain how to read the visuals specifically or maybe do a whole video? I'd appreciate that!

Nice one Lyndon, I too have been under a rock and not used this yet, I'm keen to give it a whirl though alongside other tools I use such as Connected Papers, LitMaps, and Research rabbit !

Research rabbit has a lot of potential. I have used it a bit

Question: Can I import multiple PubMed files into one Field? Thankyou in advance.
@DrLyndonWalker Жыл бұрын
Do you mean multiple publications? I would export them from pubmed as a single Endnote or bibtex file, then import that into Vos

Maaaaate phenomenal. Blown my mind. Does this work for researchgate?also articles i have saved in my mendeley?
@DrLyndonWalker Жыл бұрын
Good questions. I have been exporting from Endnote to it recently but haven't tried Mendeley.

How do you calculate the total number of authors? The extracted Excel shows at least two authors in a document and the names are repeated in the list.

Good tutorial, Dr. Walker. How can we capitalize the first letter of the text inside the network? Particularly about countries' names in the case of co-authorship. Example: canada correctly Canada.
@DrLyndonWalker10 ай бұрын
Good question. It's pulling from the data you feed it, so correcting that should fix any capitalisation issues.

In the dataset, I corrected all countries' names, and still, there are no results. Also, I used Notepad+++ but the same situation @@DrLyndonWalker

I am loving this tool, but really wishing there was a way to access the particular references from each node or cluster. Have you figured out a way to do this?
@DrLyndonWalker Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure on that - recently I have been using a different, AI driven network analysis tool called Infranodus. I did a video about it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/i33IgIWkhJWgmLM

Does this tool also take into account year of publication?

Can VOSviewer be used for my own academic analysis?
@DrLyndonWalker Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I have exported Endnote libraries and other content to it to get more detail for literature reviews and presentations. Recently I also used it to look for links between different researchers who were funded under the same grant scheme (ie. did the grant scheme lead to more research collaboration in the sector). You might also like the Infranodus tool that does even more neat network analysis stuff. You can view my video on it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/i33IgIWkhJWgmLM

hello Prof was wondering, can you help in downloading and running the vosviewer on my Mac OS M1. I downloaded the zip file for macOS and also the recommended java file and installed. however the application is always giving a "unable to load java runtime environment " error.

Seems to be an issue. Ensure java has been downloaded and installed. A few apple discussion boards have guidance discussions.apple.com/thread/255076789?sortBy=best

What is the parameter applied to creating groups? Thanks for replying
@DrLyndonWalker Жыл бұрын
Do you mean how do they measure "distance"? It depends on what you are measuring but I think it's mostly counts (eg. Counts of common keywords). Hopefully the documentation for it has more detail.
@antonellocalc Жыл бұрын
@@DrLyndonWalker Thanks for replying but I actually mean grouping. As you see, items are grouped in clusters. I had a look to the papers around the net but It's not still clear to me how the algorithm decides what goes in a group and what goes in another one. Distance is measured geometrically.
@amrallam385014 күн бұрын
@@antonellocalc They apply a community detection algorithm to create the clusters. The main idea is to group nodes that have the highest number of connections (edges) within the same cluster while minimizing connections with nodes from other clusters. This is achieved by maximizing the modularity function, which measures the strength of division within the network

Hello Dr. Walker, how can I work with VOSviewer to get a reference collection? Thank you !
@DrLyndonWalker2 жыл бұрын
Vosviewer is more for visualisation. You would normally use a literature database and download the bibliographic information, then import it into vosviewer.
