Effective life is all that matters. 2 years is good estimate for professional grade product.

You seem to know alot about this subject. My question is once you are coated I realize you don't want to wax it or put any sealants on it but would adams polishes detail spray be ok to use on it

I have a question. Reading about several quality coatings (GTECHNIQ Crystal Serum Lite, Crystal Serum Ultra, Ceramic Pro, Opt--coat, Brillo and the like it seems that realistically (dependent on how often you wash and where you live) that 3 years is really the maximum amount of time these coating effectually last. The five to seven year claims of some companies have somewhat been debunked by chemists and some professional paint shops as slightly exaggerated. And most importantly these coatings only moderately do anything beyond some very basic protection of the paint. They do not protect from chips, only from car wash brushes and some UV protection. Their main function is to make your car more Hydrophobic for easier cleaning and maintain a little bit of a higher gloss look to it. The "ceramic" coatings are only going to moderately help your paint out. The best way to protect your car is using a clear bra (3M etc). I had the entire front end of my car and my bumper professionally wrapped by an amazing local company with clear film by 3M for $2200. A company to do my whole car in a ceramic coating (they are not actually ceramic polymers) would be around $1500 but the self healing 3M clear wrap truly does protect my car to a greater degree. It's not going to protect it from everything, but certainly infinitely better than some chemical coating. The rest of my car (rear quarter panel, trunk) I did with GTECHNIQ Crystal Serum Light). The CSL is 9H and the Crystal Serum Ultra is 10H so slightly harder after it dries. But if you do three coats of 9H your probably pretty close to the 10H coating.

Xavier Lesansky the real question is how much of those layers will truly bond to each other. After a while you hit the law of diminishing returns. I get what you are saying about durability, however I have clients cars who were coated 5 years ago that are still performing well. It is all about properly washing and decontamination after the coating is applied.

@VisualProDetailing6 жыл бұрын
chris I.lallbeeharry are you going to do it yourself? If so only Crystal Serum Lite topped with EXO by Gtechniq has that sort of consumer durability.

Hello...I live in an area that is very dusty. I have my car serviced and in a day or two...there's a layer of dust on the car. After a week it's bad...I don't drive it much and its garaged but it's a car port with a gate... There's not enough room for me to walk around the vehicle to use a car cover in the car port so... After a paint correction...is using a dust brush a bad idea? Any suggestions would be great! Thank you

biopqq dust brushes can put scratches and swirls back into paint very quickly. I would recommend instead using a quick detailer or rinseless wash product as it will be a lot safer on the corrected surface.

I have a wrangler, being expose to sun hot weather a lot, and frequent in dust environment, I drive daily. I am planning to have it as long as possible, which ceramic brand should I use?

Find a detailer near you that has a strong reputation and offers a "professional grade", meaning cannot be purchased by consumers coating. Gtechniq, Ceramic Pro, Opti-Coat, all good brands that would suite your needs well.

Can you put a ceramic coating over decals? Like on a charger Daytona the roof and hood decals?
@VisualProDetailing6 жыл бұрын
Scott Corbo Yes sir. Most coatings bond to those surfaces nicely.

Nav Teh, are u serious? If you really thing that when they advertise it's like a glass coating on your paint, you shouldn't even be driving a vehicle. You really shouldn't leave your house. That's like saying "Is there really a man in the moon!" God help us.

Quick question for you. I had Opti Coat Pro Plus installed on my car. Car was exposed to freezing weather at night around 25°F about 12 hours after the coating was installed. When I woke up in the morning whole car was covered in Frost which later on went away after sun came out and it got to about 48°F outside. Should i be worried with car sitting outside right after having Opti Pro Plus installes 12 hours before?
@VisualProDetailing7 жыл бұрын
Wojciech Gierczynski it is best for any coating to get a minimum of 12 hours of cure time before being exposed to any sort of moisture. I'm not sure what the cure time is for the new Pro+ however, it would be best for you to contact your installer and ask him/her.
