A friend of mine who suffered from severe depression all of her life got in her car one day and ran away just to get away from her nonexistent life (no husband or kids or joy in her heart.) I was one of her only true friends except for those in her church. She called me out of the blue a month later begging me to come get her. She was halfway across the country. She had fallen into a cult and they wouldn't let her leave. When I and four of my friends got there, it was fascinating in a bad way how the brainwashed members were so wholeheartedly obsessed with their leader and his rules and could not understand why she would want to leave. Thankfully, we got her away with resistance but without any major confrontations.

It's really sad that police doesn't do anything about stalking cases which could prevent plenty of devastating crimes including murders. You pretty much stated why they don't do anything: lack of evidence. A person's word is meaningless unless there is something physical to back it up, remember: people do LIE about the actions of others. Most of the time, it can be attributed to a concept called "The Frog in the Water". If you don't know, you are able to cook a frog without killing it, but just placing it in a pot of room temperature water, and gradually turn up the flame. The frog does not notice that it is boiling to death, and so does not hop out of the water. That is how a lot of cults operate. They start as harmless, and even beneficial to the people ensnared in them, but they gradually get worse and worse over time, and use clever deception tactics to justify their sick abuse to the following they've obtained. If somebody trapped in one of those cults saw the terrible things a lot of cults do from a mile out, they would be able to identify that as wrong. However, since they have only experienced gradual change, they aren't able to notice that something is wrong.

I had a simliar situation earlier this year but it wasn't a cult setting. It was a "friend" that came out of nowhere into our group, took it over and proceeded to keep select of us close to them, while keeping us up 2-4hrs of sleep every day for 10 months. She lied, manipulated and traumatized each and every one of us until we couldn't see straight anymore. It all sounded insane, but we didn't know because our exhaustion and brainwashing kept us from seeing it yet. But one day, she tried to seperate me and my best friend, trying to make it out like some shadey shit was going on. But when I confronted the friend, things weren't adding up. We sat down while she was "away" and she couldn't stop us or seperate us and compared notes and realized she was manipulating everything for the whole 10 months. I confronted over 20 others, they all had similar things, but entirely different events that proved our accounts were all lies. So we cut her tf out. She's now doing her crap to some other group but I wasn't able to communicate with the new group to tell them to avoid her. They've already fallen into the fold so it's only a matter of time before they might figure it out as we have. Lack of sleep is a real big deal, everyone. You get stressed out enough ontop of the lack of sleep, you're a putty ready for molding. It's absolutely terrifying.

Yeah, same here. I mean, I understand online communities, like being a part of a fandom, but... a cult? C'mon. I even play *Cult* of the Lamb, and I don't ever pull shit like this on my fictional followers.
@gebbygebbers3 ай бұрын
I also relate about not wanting community. We don't always need to be in a focused group to feel welcome in life. Wanting community is a complex form of wanting social interactions. Perhaps some people need religious groups to get by with life and have a reason to have order, while others make do with just walking outside and talking to family and cashiers/servers, or even just commenting in socmed. (I even tried to join a community just to see if befriending people rly would benefit me as friends had suggested, and I totally hated it, almost got roped in by a Japanese love cult, and then Jehova's Witness in the same year.)

tbh I can't take cult leaders seriously bc everytime they yell something like 'im god!' I just think of light yagami and his whole 'i am god of the new world!' thing and start cracking up lmao

The last one is one of the reasons why I won't stop and help people on the side of the road anymore, used to; but not anymore. It is just too dangerous now and what is worse is that depending on the state you are in - if something happens and you need to defend yourself, it is YOU that will be arrested and charged and not the person who attacked you (looking at you california)

We need to have empathy for members of cults. We need to remember they’re people like us. People who are being abused by malignant narcissists and sociopaths. I know that the deeper you get into cults the line between victim and perpetrator blurs. However, we need to remember the nuances of life.

Every time I run into a person talking about, ‘twin flames’ I get infinitely irritated. They try to make it sound romantic- one soul two bodies. But think about it… What if you had this belief and the relationship didn’t work out? What if you found out your ‘twin flame’ was a horrible criminal who has committed several heinous acts? That’s YOUR soul. That evil is part of you. At least, that’s the logical conclusion. I’m not saying the idea is completely nonsense because we cannot disprove a metaphysical existence, but it’s a very useful idea for narcissists, psychopaths, and generally disturbed people. Convince a vulnerable person they have that soul connection with you, and you can probably get them to do about anything.

Its so sad how simple minded people really are and how easily they are duped by these cult leaders!!!! It really blows my mind.....and the excuse "they are lonely" or looking for something in their lives isn't a good excuse because there are so many people in the world going through the same thing but they don't join cults

L can't and will never worship someone ever how miserable are you to follow someone like them.listening to everything they demand of you even if it is uncomfortable.Get a grip for anyone out there if there is anyone you should follow is yourself. Freedom can be achieved but once so,the hardest part about it is finding a purpose.it's all going to be alright
@weronika12693 ай бұрын
The entire Twin Flame concept can be true or not but it says that 2 people find each other effortlessly. Or at least without anyone telling them that they are twin flames. How would this cult creators know this? Only 2 twin flames know this. If someone is your twin flame, the love is never one sided.

I’ve always been fascinated with cults and how their leaders think. When a member speaks out I’ve probably seen it. Twin flames is gross, the male leader says he’s Jesus’s second coming, and the couple says their daughter is meant to be gods wife. Cults are so strange and yet fascinating. They aren’t good- but hearing how people think is strange

I like the vid but why do you have The Satanic Temple's symbol in the thumbnail? Did you mention them in an earlier version and have to reupload after they sent a cease and desist letter....or something? Or are you just using satanic symbols as a lazy analog for cultism?

Ever notice how the fervour increases with the intensity of practical requirements? I.e., meditating, getting up early, not allowing certain substances or foods, fasting, praying and so on. This also applies to mainstream religions, making it seem a likely feature of human psychology in general.
