There was a case in Kenya (2007/2008-ish), where Televangelist Bishop Margaret Wanjiru's estranged cobbler husband "died" after he opposed her trying to marry her Reverend South African fiancé. Her & her 1rst husband got married through their tribes customary law, someone else also appeared and said that he was actually her legal husband. An excerpt from an article : " Bishop Wanjiru dismissed Mr Kamangu, saying she had no liaison with the man she described as a jigger-infested. She went on to state that she would not entertain nonsense from the man, saying she would wring his neck and follow it with burial sermon should he continue with his claims." Her friends & supporters even protested outside the courthouse, while her two sons kept distance from their alleged father in front of the court. After his "death," she got married and in her words; " got to wear the longest train in Kenya". She's also a politician.

Wise as serpents, gentle as doves, this is how we are called to be. For this reason, I am in agreement with you, calling out the falsity within any institution, government, agency and, sadly so, even the churches... and there be many yet to be called out.!! WE are the church, the body, not some building decked out in expensive furnishings and lined with pricey carpets ... the same types of buildings that our Savior would likely have been barred from even entering, for the blood and dirt on HIS feet might stain the carpets.!! Our Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, he spent his time with "the least of these"(as the world sees them), not at all spending that time accumulating wealth, treasures or properties. He perused people, not things. The best thing today's Christian could do is to leave the church they attend... come out of her my people.!! Lord have mercy, we have such great need of it. We are each of us fallen, each of us flawed, each of broken and in need of saving. Thankfully, we were blessed with the perfect Savior, our Lord of lords and King of kings, Jesus of Nazareth, Yeshua Hamashiach. 💗

We connected through food, bible study, and our mutual love for animals. We became good friends and I saw her as the older sister I never had. A few months into our friendship she and her husband announced to the bible study group they were moving to Tennessee with their beautiful daughters. The girls were 6 and 4 at the time and so precious. But I remember the mom, my friend, making a comment to me about one of her daughter's weight. I thought it strange since the girls were not overweight by any means. She had cute round checks but was so precious. I would in no way think anyone would describe her as fat. Anyway, after they moved my friend tried for months to get me to move out there too. She told me about Shamblin so I looked her up. After researching her, I knew my friend was in a cult. When I told her what I found out and believed about Gwen, she cut off all contact from me. 😔She and her husband are part of the ministry leaders team. I pray for them and their daughters.

I actually preferred this KZbin style of documentary about Gwen Shamblin over HBO’s “The Way Down” exposé about her cult. While I did like the HBO docuseries and look forward to its final episodes, HBO’s storytelling is choppy and jumps around all over the place. This KZbin documentary explains the details using a more linear timeline from beginning to end, is more concise and easier to understand. Overall, it’s shocking how many people got sucked into Shambin’s bizarre cult.

When you are naive or just trying to survive on your own in the world, you can be susceptible to these types of wolves in sheep's clothing. A LOT of religious groups out there meet the criteria as cults, sad to say.
@JAM6612 жыл бұрын
Well a lot of people are addicted to food and basically what she did was originally a good idea. However the more you got into the program the more you became dependent on it to the point of being another addiction. Basically addiction is about making lifestyle changes and living a life where you become more moderate in your behavior. One of the hardest problems news addicts have is what to do with their time and the boredom that come with it. Well her program was not about just taking a few classes but over time it was about joining her Groups. Basically the more you went, the more you got away from addiction to food to finding a new mental and emotional relationship to her and her church and programs. Overtime she built not only a church but almost everything these people did, like having parties, who your friend were,, how you child behaved. Lot of new addicts need that support in the beginning but they usually do not require you slowly hand over your life. For example a 12 step program you go to as many meeting as you want. Then as you get to know people you find someone who has some good soberity time and ask if they will sponsor. If it does not work out you find another. You sponsor many time become a tough love friend who should help be a voice of reason before you fall into something that is not the best because when you first get sober it is easy to feel this high because you feel better physically but the issues that caused the addiction is still there qnd so is the thinking. It takes time and work to change your thinking and views about someone relationship to whatever theybwere using to deal with negative emotion we all feel at some time. American fall for addiction because society tells us we are always suppose to feel a certain way. So if someone is sad we encourage people to stuff it or take something to settle the person down instead of feeling those emotions and understand that emotion can be control qnd will not kill us. This black and white thinking is very much taught in religion ( of course there are always exceptions with these standards, when they apply to the leader.. For example, no excuse for a divorce, but is OK for her to do. What she did was get these people who had a addiction personality ( and probably did not have a very good feeling of self worth either ) to feel better emotionally, but did everything mentally to help them get addicted to her advice ( not just from food but even how to raise your children). The more money and fame she got the more she probably believed her own false message that God agrees with her plan since she is doing so well. Well like most people in high places they like to surround themselves with only people who see them as someone who is great and who do not have the courage to tell them the truth because of fear. Well overtime they are surrounded with yes people who allow the person to think everything is great. Unfortunately when they find out they maybe in a situation like Saddum Hussain who did not even know American troops were in the country when they were practically in his back yard because no one wanted to give him the bad news.

The mother of child who had the Tarzan ex lucked out when they took a nose dive in her private plane with her crazed ex at the wheels. They were going after hardcore custody of that little girl. Tortuous litigation can drive a loving parent crazy and especially a parent of lesser means. She didn't have the money to fight those control freaky fools in court. They were rolling in the dough.

Veganism is not healthy - I'm sorry - I wanted it to be, but it destroyed the health of not only me but many others and yes we did it "the right way". Watch some Ex vegan testimonials and check out the paleo diet or the carnivore diet. Humans have been eating meat for millennia and not just a little bit but a LOT and the evidence is in all the science and artifacts and skeletal human bones proving we ate that way. There's not a single surviving vegan tribe for a reason. If meat was bad, we would not have survived as a species. We are animals consisting of animal protein and we require replenishment with what we're made of - animal protein. we are not cows or other ruminant animals with rumens and four stomachs which are fermentation chambers to process and chemically convert grass into nutrition. We have highly acidic PH even more acidic than a wolf - a carnivore - and we have canine teeth for a reason to rip the meat, and we have intestines designed to digest meat in the upper small intestine FIRST - the meat is all digested - it does not "rot" in the large intestine - study anatomy from science not from vegan gurus - meat digests in the small intestine very easily - it's the plant matter that survives that first digestion process in the upper small intestine and then has to go through the rest of the gut - where your gut bacteria digest the plants - hence why pre-biotic material is made of plants - bacteria eats the plants - that's what rots! That's what gives our poop bulk - THAT'S what makes you poop - plants - that's why beans and broccoli and cabbage and other plant matter gives off gasses, it's the by-product of the digestion process of the plants. Watch the video Oiling of America with Sally Fallon from the Weston A. Price Foundation and find out the conspiracy of the food pyramid, the lies of the Agriculture department in the government and how they all want to make plants GMOs because copyrighted trademarked material like GMOS is what makes the money - the biggest profit margins are in the middle of the grocery store - processed foods - which are all made of mostly plant material. There is so much money in vegan foods. Why do people seem to get better after going vegan for a short time? Because they were previously eating processed garbage and then eliminate it. Take a processed food eating vegan who avoids meat but eats Oreos and vegan chick'n nuggets with garbage ingredients, put them on carnivore, and you will see remarkable results - there are millions of people showing their lab results - no cholesterol, no inflammatory markers, no diabetes, in fact they saw a reversal of these things. The key is go back to eating the diet we all ate in the past - animal products with the fat on it - because it was calorically dense - we prized the fat - we cherished it - we never cut it out or threw it away! We gave it to the most precious of our tribe - the pregnant women and children who needed nourishment to grow - and that's how they were strong and healthy and were lifting heavy things and running and building things all their lives into their old age. Plants were always a condiment, a side dish, spices, herbs to liven up the meal. In NO WAY was it the main sustenance. And we ate nose to tail, giving thanks to the creator God - a lot of gratitude! And use the skins for leather to use for all kinds of ways! Boiled the bones to make a nourishing mineral rich bone broth which finally we now are realizing is healing for us - just like grandma said - you're sick? You need home made chicken soup - why? Because it nourished and strengthened the GUT because the GUT is made of collagen and flesh and complete bioavailable absorbable animal amino acids proteins! FROM ANIMALS. Watch "vegan deterioration" when you see the wasting away of people on a "healthy vegan diet". compare with long term carnivores like Kelly Hogan, Dr Shawn Baker.. many healed their illnesses like Michaela Peterson on her lion diet. By the way, animals grazing on the land reverses desertification - see Allan Savory Institute among other research. Everything else is vegan propaganda because Bill Gates is buying up all the land to grow GMOs and wants you to eat them with his crickets so you can be sick and he can sell you more pharmaceuticals. It's a scam. I love me a fresh organic salad but it's on the side of my grass fed steak that came from my local family owned farm that hasn't been corrupted by big Agriculture government corporations, and has no hormones or other drugs or antibiotics injected into it, and those animals are loved and given a beautiful life protected from predators and cared for from birth to a quick and merciful death. All overseen by animal psychologists and all the animal welfare standards to ensure they are happy and healthy all the way. This is the way to eat.

I’m so thankful for mini documentaries like this. Thank you so much ❤ I’m a Christian, who was raised by parents that joined a cultish church in their very early 20’s. I have learned so much from them about corporate church manipulation, coercion, guilt-tripping, and shaming, etc. Videos like this help me understand my parents better, as I always try and offer sympathy and support. Both of them are still Christians, but don’t attend church much. I don’t blame them whatsoever. God is the most misquoted and misrepresented of them all when imperfect people, hungry for power, try to take His place. *I say all of these things in vulnerability so please be nice 😇

I got taken in for about a decade by the corporate church (and I love that you called it that because that's exactly what Christianity has become by in large sadly). It has become about money and power, not love and forgiveness (preach the gospel = forgiveness for one's wrong-doings), which where the only two things Jesus actually commanded of his disciples. Loving others as Jesus loves us is the one that they ignore because it shows them for what they are when they ask for money for more buildings when the early church met in people's houses and for money to pay the pastors when the early pastors had regular jobs to meet their needs and Jesus was homeless as an adult. Loving others is the hardest part but I think it's the most important part.

This was a fascinating story and really well put together - well done. The fact that the plane went down because it was overweight is so deliciously ironic! One thing I found weird was, usually cult leader types are quite persuasive and charismatic but, from the clips you showed, I saw none of that in Gwen. In each of her interviews, it was so obvious that she was spoofing and in complete panic mode, desperately scrambling for words as she feared she was about to finally be exposed. A modern day Pinocchio with her hair taking on the role traditionally played by Pinocchio's nose. I find it strange that anybody would have bought into her crap, that fact she managed to do it on such a huge scale is truly mind-boggling!
