Turn on your drone. Type usbwifi.cn on your phone browser, and choose the drone network from the network list. Then the repeater disconnects automatically, and creates a new network that has the same name as the drone network, but "_plus" added the the end. Connect to that. Done.

The drones' WiFi antennas are for camera control and can the Wi-Fi extender be used for drones? Is the transmission distance of the Wi-Fi extender very short, can the dron be controlled up to 1km? Do you use 10ea Wi-Fi extender for 1km distance?

Yes. The wifi antenna that you want to put up is on the botton circuit board.

After this antenna mod there is no wifi connection. Now my phone and other devices does not see wifi connect of the drone. But remote control works. Maybe the wifi module broke.

talvez você só tenha desconectado o módulo wi-fi, verifique a antena se está corretamente conectada a placa, e se a placa está devidamente conectada a placa central de comandos ( aquela placa de cima onde tudo se conecta.) caso não funcione, talvez você tenha encostado nas placas com muita estática no corpo, então ela pode ter queimado, se for isso, somente substituindo a placa de wi-fi. Espero ter ajudado.

Control would be via the Phone App, as this supports Wi-Fi. The joystick controller doesn't use Wi-Fi.

How far would the range be if you just used the wifi extender and didn't make the antenna mod?

Absolutely amazing! Where was the repeater located? Maybe the reason it was going to the right is because the antenna was located on the left and you moved the center of gravity towards the right which needed to be recalibrated. (sticks down and out on controller or with button in the app, the "WiFi UFO" app seems better than the "XSW UFO" app) or you have a motor going bad. This blows away much more expensive setups....my next question is how does control work (can more than 1 device control drone at same time or is control bound to just 1 controller) Next mod should be to remove all that extra weight (LED's and wires, prop guard slot covers, LED covers, prop caps, the wifi antenna mounting loop and if you want the front led plugs on the controller board. You could extend out 1 or 2 LEDs from the front LED holes far enough to see with the camera so you can see when battery is low and recording status, sort of cheap telemetry)

That sticks down and out procedure only resets the trim settings.. as I haven't made any changes to trim, that wouldn't do anything. I don't think this is a center-of-gravity problem, perhaps the antenna interfering nearby components in its new location? The led modification idea is neat, it would be handy to know low battery warning from far away.

True about the trim....could be a motor going bad as they don't last long (but are cheap)....I can't see it being interference but if you don't need the controller (using only wifi) you could cut off the RC antenna and try that...actually come to think of it half of the wifi antenna (the thick part) is below and mashed into the RC antenna, so ya most likely interference from the wifi antenna...try moving the wifi antenna all outside or different position (like below would be the best for signal) The wifi antenna unplugs from what I see making it easier to route through a small hole in the bottom centerish...

As for the low voltage warning/recording flashing lights (the cheap telemetry), is there any difference between low volt and rec? (ie. flash rate, back to front) if there isn't it's not much use...if there is then perfect...

I haven't paid much attention it's flashing lights as they're hard to see during the day, but I think the low voltage blinking is faster.

Did you try the yaw trim on the controller app? I noticed it has very fine adjustments that can be mistakenly hit during flight and not really noticed (except for the effect on flight)...

So.. to be all clear.. all you did was pull the wifi antenna thrue the shell, and plug in a wifi extender in your phone. Im all new in this.. but then you just make the normal wifi connection to the drone with your phone like you allways do? Awsome. what range did you get with the original transmitter antenna and non modded wifi antenna? TX antenna pigtail soldered to the board? in which case find a ground to solder to? Are you using your phone as control?

The original range was pretty much what they promise, 100 meters. And yes, I'm using a phone, and a wifi extender plugged into a usb power bank. I haven't done any mods on the controller antenna, but I understand you can solder the antenna ground to the battery negative? I think I read that on rcforums..

Jarkko J Thankyou for your reply, I just watched the footage again wow, still crazy awsome and kinda scary. Had the controller apart lastnite touched the antenna and it just came off!! including the solder pad!! So I have two options. Remove surface coating to reveal more solder pad and solder Original antenna to the spot, or Remove more surface coat to reveal an earth/gnd and go with 2.4ghz 9dcb dipole antenna, get more range. Good call jarkko the other place for neg /gnd is B- battery negative on the board which i am now considering. just not happy about using antenna grnd -to Neg battery terminal, but ill try it anyway. Well im going to test the range on the transmitter after dipole mod today, and purchase a wifi extender, what brand/model number did you use? Ill put up some footage of the results. Should work fine, I did this same mod to a SymaX5sw, and receiver thru hole in shell, fantastic 400m-500m range. I will be interested to know how you got on with using phone as control and various other functions of the app! as i ve not used it for other than record/pics. ps. could you still see your quad line of sight?

Just search for "wifi usb repeater" on ebay, and it should be on the first page. As for phone control, I guess it's not the most optimal way to fly, but if you want to get the most distance then you just have to live with it. You can't connect the controller to the extender, and I think the extender has more transmitting power. But I could be wrong on that.

Jarkko J Spot on bud, I will look on ebay for one. Much Kudos are well deserved, You have single handedly nailed both my issues, FPV Quaility and Range. Im wondering if i can obtain 1K by modding Twin Dipoles 9Dcb on a Flysky Fsi6 Transmitter and mod the visuo receiver with a pagoda antenna or similar. But i will still need to improve wifi signal from phone to Quad......unless i use a base station with Helical gain antenna, but i dont fancy dragging a tripod and power supply about, after all i bought the quad because mainly it folded. Theres gotta be some gizmo outhere to utilize.? Windy as F@@k today so i might try virtual sticks tommoro, Got any tips/dos and donts, like oh yeah dont press return home button, it climbs 30/40ft and flys away. once again thanks and i look forward to your reply.cheers
