That wifi repeater works great. I did a test flight with my Hubsan H216A and tripled my distance with a heavy wind and lots of large trees. I will be flying it with the repeater from now on.

I made my own parabolic dish i printed a paper template from the net, got some foil and cardboard and a little glue and it works great.

I just got mine and I couldn't fly very far at all in my yard before it would lose signal and ship land. I did like you did n it made a huge difference. I'd like to lean to put in a larger antenna .

Why u didn't try to mod the controller of the drone? You can make a hole and put the antenna out on the controller. Maybe is a little better.

Hello RC Escape...what a great flyer with the wifi extender and antenna mod!. Im just wondering if you have made reviews on the latest visuo QC, the XS812 5Ghz wifi FPV with GPS? It would be an excellent long range flyer with the 5Ghz/2.4Ghz dual wifi extender similar in shape with the one you are using which is already in the market and plus the antenna mod....if this review reached a kilometer range...Im sure the XS812 can reach twice the range using the 5Ghz extender! Can't wait!

Great video! I've just bought one myself. Was just wondering if you had the antenna coming out through the bottom and running lengthways along the quad, would it be just as effective? Cheers, Adam

You can do it that way too but keep in mind the radiation peak is at 90° to the dipole antenna so by running it length wise the signal will be strong when the quad is facing you sideways and if it is going away or coming towards you, the signal is at its weakest points. That is exactly how it is inside the quad so by standing it up, the nullified areas or the weak areas are now up and below the quad so the signal strength is better all around the quad.

I do not have a Wi-Fi drone so I am slightly confused. Is the Wi-Fi repeater repeating Wi-Fi from your phone or the Drone or both?

Normally, you connect your phone to the drone's wifi network but with the repeater, you connect the drone to the repeater and your phone to the repeater.

Actually you connect the WiFi repeater to the drone and your phone to the WiFi repeater....the repeater is like the middle man and has much more power and better antenna than any cellphone or tablet, thus it works for longer range...this only works for WiFi drones because the repeaters only work with WiFi signals...

Who cares about percentage...the flying time left is what is important...this model has an early low voltage warning and will typically fly for a couple more minutes before going into failsafe landing mode. But note during low voltage warning it will not allow flips or to climb very high.

The Xiaomi Mi is a 2.4ghz repeater so it will not work.

I've just discovered it by myself: just download an old version (mi-home.en.uptodown.com/android/old) of "MI HOME" that doesn't block networks without a password!

Make sure the WiFi repeater works with unsecured networks (no passwords) because the Drones WiFi network doesn't use passwords.....other than that any WiFi repeater should work.
