Yes, if there is an SD card in the drone and you press the video button on the app, it will start recording on the SD card. As for take off and land, they did work on my remote, but the camera button on the remote did nothing but make the LEDs flash. Camera operations worked only from the app for me.

You should be able to record to the phone! Normally the button on the radio should start video recording on the copter, and pressing the recording button in the phone app should start recording on the phone.

Great review! I have one but for some reason it "bounces" around when it hovers. It's the HW version. I have calibrated it and tried it out but it doesn't seem to stay still and instead keeps bouncing around a lot. Does yours every do that while hovering?

I don't think calibration has anything to do with the barometer used to keep that altitude. Sadly I have no idea how this can be fixed! I guess it might be a usual thing in stronger winds... but in calm weather it should stay pretty stable.

I haven't tried it... but I know a a guy over at RCGroups attached a similar size and weight camera, and according to him it was able to lift it and fly around with it, though I assume that would put additional stress and wear on the motors and gears... and they will wear out quicker! Also, the flights would last a lot less! :)

The newest controllers have blank video and photo buttons because those features are not available on the WiFi version. Earlier controllers had those buttons labeled, but they still weren't available. Videos and photos must be initiated from the UFO app. Also, photos and videos are saved to the SD card ONLY if you have a properly FAT32 formatted SD card installed. If no SD card is present, then the video supposedly gets saved to the phone.

Does the light go out when the battery is charged? it says not to charge it longer than 1hr but it seems like it does need more than 1hr Longest I have charged my battery for is 1.5hrs but I still dont think I got the full charge.

Yes, the light should go out, and that usually takes A LOT of time if you have run it down completely, at least 2 hours in my experience!

I think it will! Somebody used to post videos of this one carrying a GoPro camera... so it should be fine, but keep in mind you will be putting more stress on the motors, and flight times will be a lot less!

Saw a video recently of a guy loosing his after activating one key return... copter just took off never to be seen again! I would test this at low altitude and not depend on it much to be honest!

Supposedly headless mode makes the copter act as if it has no front side. With that enabled, no matter which way the copter is rotated, when you pull back on the right stick, it will fly back, no matter which way the head is pointing to.

Good review, after watching your review I ordered one. I already have a phantom 3 but wanted a cheaper drone to fly with as you have correctly said, the DJI drone have a lot of auto pilot things going on and I always feel disconnected from actually flying them.

Once you get hooked up, 10 mins will never be enough, so consider picking up a spare battery or two, they don't cost much anyway! You can use up to 32GB cards I think! As for the video and photo... not completely sure yet! The Bottons on the radio should start the video recording on the copter, and the ones in the app should start video and photo recording of the video downlink to the phone, not the copter... or so the theory goes.

I got one just today and did my first drone flight. I got the android app to work on my phone and used it to capture video to the phone which I posted to KZbin. You can see my inexperience in flying. Congratz on your first flight! I think over at the RCGroups thread people were talking about modding the battery bay so they can use other batteries with this, not just the stock one! Also, somebody was carrying a larger GoPro style camera, so I am pretty sure this has enough power to lift a larger battery.

Not really sure! Can't compare with something I haven't had and tested myself, but the CW4 is not foldable... so potentially would be more bulky to carry around, while the Visuo folds down pretty nicely! Otherwise both seem to have about the same specs when it comes to camera, etc.

Hey please help me i am struck at two quardcopters , whether to buy visuo xs809w or jxd 509w. My requirement is flight time 8 to 10 minutes with good camera quality and a decent long distance range

Well, I haven't had any contact with the JXD one, but it does appear like it may possibly be a tad more stable in the air. Also, the antenna is on the outside and that landing gear would allow a better placement for a better range! Not sure what do you take for long range with these toys, but they could probably be made to go 200-400 meters, possibly a bit more, but that is about it! For more distance you will have to get a bigger and more expensive model.

The visuo works with a small $15 usb powered wifi repeater and you can get 500 meters without any modifications, over 1 km with an antenna mod on the quad. There are a couple of youtube videos showing this...

You need to have the card formatted to FAT32. At least on my unit pressing the video or photo buttons on the radio does nothing. You need to start the video recording from the XSW UFO app.

Not really. If you have a valid SD card in the copter, starting the video on the phone will not record to the phone, only on the copter. If you don't have an SD card in the copter pressing that button in the app will record video only to the phone.

Bayang protocol, A16 sub protocol, and this quad will bind to open-tx/Deviation Channel map is same as bayang A16, I get arm with 100% of max on ch12 and disarm same way on 13, can't get it to auto-land, arming with throttle at midpoint simulates auto take off. This thing on a Jumper with a Xiaomi wifi repeater is wicked cool cheap fun!!!

I hardly see what my location has to do with the SD card slot, but I am guarantee you 100% that the unit I have has a working SD card slot for a MicroSD card, and the copter can record 720p video to it.

The confusion might be stemming from the fact that there are two versions of this model - one is the first model, which didn't have altitude hold function, and the camera did not record, so in effect the SD card slot might have been a dummy one. The second version, which I reviewed, has the altitude hold function and has the SD card slot. :)

I have bought the drone recently and I admit that it is very good for its prize, it seems that on wifi it records 0,3 mpx so probobly it does 2mpx on SD? I will learn soon . I also see that the gps improved version looks also cool.

Haven't had experience with the JJRC model, but it looks promising and is larger than the Visuo, which will possibly make it a bit more stable outside in some wind! If other specs are on par... I would go for that one, although it is also a bit more expensive.

Ah the joys of living in Canada. $42 x 1.3 = $54.60 plus tax (13%) and shipping. It's at least 100 to get it to my door, but from Amazon they are pricing at around 109 - 120 CAD before tax and free shipping if you have prime. Anyway, mine just showed up today so can't wait to go to the local church gym when it's quiet and try it out. (snowing and blowing outside) I havent tried banggood yet but maybe I should have a look.

To be honest, I havent tried from GB yet, but I have ordered from Tower Hobbies a lot over the years. The pricing is competitive, but TH has a very limited selection of drones, and certainly not this one, but exchange, brokerage and shipping, and tax all add up. Even so, Canadian hobby dealers will still charge over and above the difference. I'll keep GB in mind for next purchase, but I have already ordered this quad off Amazon. It arrived with an extra battery, but the extra battery doesn't work. I have been finding the best stuff for drones is straight from chinese vendors, but it can take weeks and weeks and WEEKS for your order to arrive.

True... sometimes takes a criminal amount of time... but at some point I got over that and just plan and order stuff ahead of time! Right now I have so much work to do, that I actually am happy with some of the stuff taking a few months to arrive! Hahahaha As for the battery... perhaps you can contact the seller to replace it! Sadly with this type of cheap manufacturing these things happen every now and then!

esse drone visuo veio com muitos defeitos, primeiro falta de sinal, não chega nem 20 metros tem que fazer modificações da antena do controle e drone. segundo é os motores por ser escovados as vezes não dura nem 3 voos, dar muito defeito nesse motor. em terceiro as engrenagens pequenas não durão como rápido os dentes. o wife da cam não chega nem 15 metros ja falha. estão fazendo muitas propaganda em um drone com muitas falhas. tive 2, um eu perdi o motor com 3 voos, e depois de ter consertado eu perdi o sinal com 15 metros e ele foi em bora nunca eu achei. o segundo drone fis modificação na antena do controle e do drone e acabei perdendo 2 motores em 5 voos.

Really not sure why you are having such a negative experience with these! True, the brushed motors do need replacing after a while... but 2-3 flights seems really short exploitation period for them to fail! Also... loosing a copter at 15 meters away from you... come on!! This is 15 meters... do you fly in a jungle??

It is when there are no vibrations in the copter, and the recorded image is without the lines.

It was just a joke at ArxangleIRC because 9 out of 9.9 of these you grade copters/drones have the "jello" effect. I personally haven't seen one toy grade drone that the video looks spot on. The old saying, you get what you pay for. I have this quad and it's dead after one month use. One very light crash and it quit Wi-Fi connecting and two days after that, no power at all. I think it's the main board and I cannot solder due to a neurological disorder. Ugh!

Take out the PCB only and bake it in the oven for a while! If there are any cracks on the soldering on some components and baking it might fix it as it will melt the solder and refresh it. If its dead you got nothing to loose anyway! :)
