I just watched this vid again. A friend was asking me how to find a folding drone. A Drone X ad keeps popping up in the Facebook feed for $99.00. Someone told me not to buy them, and that they are crap. So i just tagged him with your video here onto Facebook. I knoe that this will help him make up his mind. I'm thinking that he is new to this hobby. You do such great reviews on countless drones, and I gotta tell ya that you have such a pleasing personality, and a genuine passion for your craft. You are the best out there. After almost 4 year's, I finally graduated a step further from the toy grade, to my First gps drone. I got the Hubsan X4 H501S kit about 3 months ago. I love that quad. No these are great, fast, east to fly, and good controller without a bunch of hidden press this for 2 seconds then hit flip button 3 times kind of shit. Paid $45 total for mine w/4 batteries and charger that allows 4 batteries to change at once.

Hello quadcopter 101. I decided to buy this quadcoptero due to this evaluation. After some flights, I can say that the altitude hold works very well, so well that some times it doesn't want to lower of altitude...lol...but there it ends for going down. It is pretty neat also to control the apparel through the phone, namely, the inclination of the phone. The effect of alone jelly appears when it fly at maximum speed, in calm filmings it doesn't appear. And the videos that it records in the card SD are divided in files of 2 minutes, consecutive. And it App allows to do the download of the videos to the phonel , there is no need to remove the card of the drone. I really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.

This is a great beginner drone . I have had mine for a month and discover new stuff NOT to do each time I am out . Do NOT try the return to home button it simply sends the copter off to a life of its own hahaha. Also due to its light weight the wind is your enemy . I feel comfortable flying this within a range of 100-150 feet ( 30 -50 metres ) away . Find a big field have fun . This is a great trainer at a good price cant wait to experience a GPS hold copter with a bigger range. Thumbs up from a first timer

You said it. Mine took off and I was hovering it at about 50 feet, the light wind started blowing it away, it wasn't powerful enough to make its way back and soon flew out of range of the controller, and was gone.

@@ChristopherRafter that's basically what happened to me. Each quad I buy now. I put my phone number and "Reward" on it. I got my X8C back that way. Also it helps to cut up little strips of reflective tape on the top bottom etc. A flashlight will pick up on it in the dark. Especially in thick bushes or trees. It certainly can't hurt :)

@@smakuentertainment1082 Always remember that this quad is not a gps quad. The return to home button will only send the drone back to the direct opposite of where it took off from. Example : if the drone was facing south at take off. It Will only fly back in the opposite direction, of where it is currently flying. So if you're flying, and the drone is flying East ? It will only fly the in the opposite direction of where it is currently flying. So naturally, if it's facing to the East ? It won't fly back to the North where you were standing to start with. If it's facing East, it will only fly back to the West. Hope this helps..

My observation as a novice Drone pilot ... I purchased the Hubsan X4 Desire H502e and then the VISUO XS809HW drones. I really like your reviews - they were very informative. My observations about the VISUO XS809HW: - much harder for me to fly. I crashed it more times and harder than the Hubsan and the VISUO still survives, while a motor in the Hubsan quit and I returned it to Amazon. - body and motors seem much higher quality - I actually prefer the plug in battery over having to fiddle with the connector and stuffing it back in the tight compartment on the Hubsan - I could not get Headless Mode to work properly - and the beeping is annoying. - It drifts continually - trims do not seem to work. - Making photos and video is much harder than the Hubsan. Never felt that was reliable. - I like the larger size over the Hubsan along with the fold out arms - I had thought the FPV using a Smartphone would be pretty cool - naah, that was a PITA. - The micro SD card can be inserted without making electrical contact. My observations about the Hubsan X4 Desire H502e: - much easier to fly, seems much more stable with little drift. The VISUO was constantly drifting. - I thought the batteries were more clunky to deal with versus the VISUO - calibrating the GPS before each flight was a pain - but it made for a more enjoyable flying experience - Motors seem less durable. One of mine was intermittent starting up and finally just stopped working. AND, I never had any hard crashes like I have had with the VISUO. So the Hubsan is more delicate. - Picture taking and Video was easy and effort free. - Documentation about putting on the propellers never mentioned that two were left-hand threads - just use the black screws for one set, silver screws for the other set. In addition, I had some additional screws that had a larger head on them - what are they for? - The micro SD card plugs in and comes out with no issues. I think a really nice Drone could be made from the two of them - basically the VISUO with the flying characteristics of the Hubsan. That would be deleting the FPV, install a GPS, and make Headless mode work properly along with Return to Home. I lost my VISUO yesterday afternoon. It seemed to not respond to controls and it looked to me like it flew into a tree. I heard it hit the branches. Looked for some time up in the tree. Then today while trying to find it in the tree with binoculars a neighbor came by asking what we were doing. Wife said we were trying to find a lost drone. Neighbor said, I've got it, and gave it back to me. Apparently it flew into trees hitting branches and then flew across street to edge of woods near the back yard of his property - well over 300 ft from where I was standing and over 200 ft from the darn tree that I thought it was in. So I have it and it still works but its like a child with a mind of its own :-)

Wouldn't recommend it if you're a new flier. Although the drone can easily climb to 100ft, you may lose it to the wind. Beginners have difficulty maintaining orientation to control the drone if the drone is far.

I have one of these on the way so appreciate the video. Still honing my skills before investing in the mavic pro. This would be a good stepping stone from my first quad which is basically a pocket quad. I notice the landing button is more like a "kill engines" button. Even my pocket quad lands smoother than that. Manual land went much smoother!

Many (if not most) toy quads use the questionable practice of advertising one key return as if it's a return to home feature. But it is not. Only a quadcopter with a GPS system is capable of returning to home and landing at its takeoff spot. This quadcopter does not have a GPS, and is not capable of return to home and landing. Always remember, if no GPS, then no RTH or RTL. No matter what the listing questionably infers. "One key return" simply flies the quadcopter in the exact opposite direction that it was pointed when it took off. For example, if the quadcopter was pointed North at takeoff, pressing one key return would make it fly south. Thus if you make an effort to always keep the quadcopter flying North of your position, pressing one key return would make it roughly fly back toward you. But if the quadcopter was anywhere else but North, it may actually fly away from you.

You need to first connect to the drone's WiFi signal in your phone's WiFi settings. After you are connected to the WiFi signal, then open the XSW UFO app to view and record videos. The video camera will not work with the controller's video button. *You need to use the app* to start and stop video recordings.

There is no difference now. But originally the XS809W did not have altitude hold feature. However, now XS809HW and HS809W both have altitude hold. I do recommend the 2MP camera version as it's a much better camera than the cheaper 0.3MP version.

My 809HW has no sd card, and no photo or video buttons on transmitter, camera operates only from app on phone and save photos to phone. There must be some more versions out there of this quad.

If anyone is in helpful mode our maiden flight was a disaster. Although we read every word of the complicated manual and thought we knew what we were doing the drone took off at ninety an hour and flew over a fence on a property that we have not been able to gain access to despite several attempts. The issue was it took off and the controller did nothing. There was also no video for us to figure out where it landed. Yes, we should have got the video working before our test flight. My question is if there is any chance that there is still any life in the battery is there any way to get the video working so we can figure out where it landed? Appreciate any help.

No way of reactivating the camera without charge in the battery. But here's a hint how to find it. Its range is very short at about 70 meters. At that point it should descend to the ground once it loses signal from the transmitter. So search down the direction that you last saw it focusing in an area from 70 to 100 meters.

Not sure why that would happen. Did you try manual takeoff? Move both sticks down and inward until the motor starts, then gradually increase the throttle until it takes off.

Before you do the above, you need to connect (bind) the transmitter to the drone. Here's how 1) Turn on the drone and place it undisturbed on a flat and level surface. 2) Turn on the transmitter. 3) Move the transmitter's left throttle stick full up then full down to bind it. You should hear a beep.

You do not connect to home WiFi or internet with this drone. Instead the drone is emitting a WiFi signal that is not connected to the internet. Turn on the drone and place it on the ground. Wait about thirty seconds, then open your phone's WiFi settings and look for the drone's signal. Connect to the drone's WiFi signal (no password needed). Then open its app to view or record the drone's video.

That Jello is pretty poor for something with the camera built in. You'd think they would have fixed that pre-sale. Is there some way of fixing it after market or is it built in with no way to change it? I think I'd disable it altogether if it can't be fixed and use a Mobius instead. Hopefully there's some way to redirect the video to the recorder.

2MP version is better. Do not get the cheaper 0.3MP camera version as the video resolution is terrible. The one used in the above video is the 2MP version.
