Visy Recycling Education

I feel like a big cheater uploading these videos which aren’t mine, but it’s a nice change from the usual stuff! This time I’m sharing some educational footage courtesy of Visy, looking at a small fraction of the company’s recycling empire in Australia. There are four parts I joined together in this upload, two which highlight household recycling collection and sorting, another covers the aluminium recycling process and to conclude is a focus on waste paper handling. I won’t bother identifying any trucks which hit the spotlight along the way, I’ll let them be a surprise and up to you viewers to figure out. What I will mention is that Visy’s Smithfield site is featured in the last two parts, showing both the MRF and paper mill in action, which are major recycling infrastructure for not only the Sydney metro area, but also numerous regional locations. You may notice the old fashion manual sorting seen at the beginning and then the referenced optical sorting in the Smithfield MRF operation, how things have changed! This is another cool watch for those interested in what happens to recyclables once the trucks collect the bins. The recycling sector has been a big deal for many years already, but it has become even more important in recent times and will only grow and advance in future.

Pretty neat videos these were, quite amazing that you still have these videos. Starting with the old Brissy single passes and that pine river truck was pretty sick to see, as well as the Willoughby and Old Hornsby Recyclers. Nice video 👍

Rather amusing to see MRF's that would have only just gone fully co-mingled, from the traditional bottles and paper streamed services. Except for Visy Smithfield of course.

Hey mate I thought you would know the most about this, the old truck featured in this video is what I am looking for. I would like to know if they still run and if so where abouts. If you know anything please let me know I have been emailing councils and shit and no one wants to reply to me😭

All the trucks featured in this video are long gone mate, it'll take a miracle to come across these rigs on the job today.

Good old Hornsby Collex/Veolia side loaders! Why can't most councils go back to streamlined recycling? thats how recycling should be done! i mean Co mingle recycling is shocking from what iv'e seen in terms of contamination!
