Nylex became part of the Superior Pak brand, at least the bins side of things, got bought out in the late 2000s when Transpacific was acquiring multiple companies operating in the waste industry.

Once again you've blown me away Mitch another time capsule of Central Coast history. And I know exactly where this section is you filmed in. The last section of Kincumber before you end up in Kincumber South where it starts going rural towards Bensville etc. Funnily enough, this entire section you filmed in was cancelled and put onto the difficult access run for Gosford in 2020, which is operated by one of those mini axle 4x2 Accos. Permanent drivers got the shits with the section said residents ended up abusing cul de sac parking, full timer went around and wrote letters and left them in many letterboxes in many of those dead ends and no avail so he went on a tirade and got it taken off not only his run but the other 2 streams as well, rendering it only done from now on by the same bloke in the mini axle, twice a day (one load for rcy or veg, and return later for the garbage). I did this section in the mini axle in my time there at Cleanaway, and I can see why the big trucks ended up handing it in any saying NO F**KING MORE! Lmao. Who doesnt love a Series 2 with a great arm slam on a Euro 4 setup. Best chassis and body combination made imo. Shame nowadays we will never see such a classy yet simple set up in a fleet ever again. Central Coast just nailed it at what they did, trucks that never looked untidy and the livery, both the Thiess blue and Remondis black variants were always appealing. I miss these days. I was actually about to score the Gosford difficult access full time not long after I decided to hand in the towel there after 3 painful and dark years working for Clownaway. Won't name names or specifics but all I can say is thank fuck I'm out of that place... Feel sorry for all the boys who have been there since Thiess and Sita/SMS even few BFI and PWM originals who just are treated so poor by the current contract holders. It is a shame. The industry just isn't the same that it used to be. Great video mate, thanks for the upload. And I know who's behind the wheel he just not long left Fuckaway from similar shoddy treatment.. I will forward this to them he will no doubt have a smile seeing this. :)

Also if you do film the cassowary coast could you please try and get all areas around the cassowary coast regional council. The wet and dry waste services also end in august 2024. Awesome! Going to likes! What rpm would you say this is set at? And The heavy duty grabber, arh yes yes the larger 360l grabber i feel it's a must have on side loaders! Does Bucher or spaks still make them? Longer 360l grabbers is what side loaders in particular need for scooping up heavy bins!
@AussieGarbo
@AussieGarbo 28 күн бұрын
Typically these would operate around 900RPM. Not sure if Bucher still makes this bigger grab and as far as I know SPAK has always used the same size. I believe Aussie designed 360L bins are able to be gripped effectively by the Aussie made grab lifters, so upgrades are not necessary now.

Hey mate, absolute beast of a thing here. Also a very interesting lifter design which i quite like. Is there any chance that you may still have any more old Cleanaway Canberra videos? been keen to see some more, something i have also really been wondering when Cleanaway/Transpacific first started there, based off what i know i believe it somewhere between 1999 and 2002. Would you happen to know anything about that? Cheers
@AussieGarbo

Yes I still have a couple Cleanaway ACT videos to come, one of a single axle MkIV/Hino on garbage and another single axle SPAK/Hino on recycle. The previous Thiess and BFI contracts for garbage and recycling started in Dec 1994, both went for 7 years initially, but they must have been extended for a certain period. I did a rego check on a few Cleanaway Hinos and it shows they were built in Dec 2002, further date info suggests Cleanaway may have taken over collections around June or October 2003 (or somewhere in between). Cheers

@@AussieGarbo Amazing, back in the 90’s did id assume Thiess handled recycle, and BFI garbage? As a matter of a fact on google maps one of the old cleanaway recycle series 2’s was still sitting at the front of the cleanaway yard in August of 2016, completely stripped and everything. Would you be able to upload one of those canberra videos sometime soon? very keen on seeing it. Thanks

About time Mitch! Only been waiting a little while, I mean like 11 years for this 😂. I still remember receiving the photos via email from this visit. Really rewarding to see the footage, a lot nicer than all what I still have from back in the day. 33 in this video, appears that the truck and driver was a good match together, it must’ve had one of the best lifter setups in the fleet for these old rexroth single function systems they had, looks heaps quicker and smoother than how the former Willoughby 614 operates in current day. A bit of dejavu, this exact run is assigned to me on garbage week, and your furry friend you found still protects its territory to this day too .

I thought you might be keen to finally see this, can roll your eyes in relief! haha I do recall sending those photos and after all this time I was like "has he forgotten I got videos there?" lol I wonder if that dog was barking more at the truck or in defence mode discovering me at his gate. Must be a special feeling seeing this truck on the job and playing the collections yourself in the same place all these years later.

I'm a bit confused about the (whether it's)sms and handybin waste services branding on this truck! It's an sms livery like Willoughby but the mudflaps and rear door have handybin waste services. Did sms rebrand to handybin or are they trading regionally? Oh so they had Fogo before Penrith in western Sydney got it! So Fogo was first introduce in nsw Reginally before metropolitan Sydney in the 2000s! These trucks with the Cummins engines while driving along and when the lifter is in operating to empty a bin to me feels like doing the easy care gardening on Fridays!
@AussieGarbo
@AussieGarbo 2 ай бұрын
Handybin and SMS are under the same ownership and feature the same colours, just different trading names in Sydney and Coffs. Lismore was the first council to do FOGO around 1999, then it would've been Port Mac Hastings about 2001 and next would've been Coffs Coast in 2007 (off the top of my head).

Haven’t watched whole video yet but putting a comment on. I just recently was on holidays in a small coastal town called Urunga not far from Nambucca. Urunga falls under Bellingen Shire and as you stated they use the same trucks as Nambucca and Coffs through there joint Coffs coast waste services company. But they weren’t obviously these old beasts they were the newer Ivecos you mentioned in the description . I will put the videos up soon and you can check out the new trucks from up there

The Richards designed lifter has been the same for as long as I can remember must be a very proven design, looks strong. I can’t believe how noisy the arms on these things are, even from brand new. Surely one day the speed and reach on the arms will be a match with spak / bucher
@AussieGarbo
@AussieGarbo 2 ай бұрын
Yep pretty well unchanged by Richards for over 20 years, definitely sticking to their roots. It's a more complicated design with all the linkages and they are heavy, but they seem durable and lift strong. The old school banging and clunking of the arm is amusing for the modern day, makes more noise than any other operating aspect of the truck, no cushioning hydraulics on these side loaders! Will see about the reach ability and pace in future, but somehow I don't think they'll ever do anything about it.

Hi Mitch, before I say anything this video is awesome! The new Burwood Volvos look super cool! I had one particular question though, Veolia does bulk waste runs through Sutherland (As spares I think) and they have 2 particular rear loaders RL15 (I know that this an Ex Bankstown) and the other being RL10. I saw RL10 up close today and noticed it has some signage containing WSN and saying it was a contractor for a council but that is now painted off and not visible leaving me clueless. I was wondering where this rear loader originated from, my original thought it was from Bankstown as well but I am not sure if WSN was their contractor at one point. Other than that thanks for sharing this video and have a great rest of your week.
@AussieGarbo
@AussieGarbo 2 ай бұрын
Randwick is the council name not visible on RL10 anymore. I got told Randwick had ex-Ryde RL07 from the beginning but, apparently RL10 was basically always in St George, but it was briefly based in Randwick during my time in early 2014. If you search "St George RL10" on my Flickr page a couple photos of the truck with some info should pop up. Both RL15 and RL16 were the original Bankstown clean-up trucks under WSN, they had twin rear loaders there if you didn't already know.
