Here is another Vita 2000 LCD vs Vita 1000 OLED screen comparison for you. I used Malicious Rebirth and Mega Man 2, as well as a bit of the Vita user interface to show the differences between an LCD screen versus an OLED screen.

After buying the Vita slim/Borderlands 2 bundle I must say I'm happy with my purchase. I'm not much of a graphics buff so washed colors here and there aren't bad. As long as I can play upcoming titles like Freedom Wars for longer periods of time without being hooked up to a charger. Also the redesign feels better in the hands. OLED will always be better, but I won't miss is.

Got mine a few days before it was announced for the US, but I personally like the 2000 model better. Don't get me wrong though, the OLED is gorgeous, I found it a little too dark in some games though.

I own the original release version - the OLED one - and the battery life after 1,5 years of heavy use (it replaced my high end PC almost completely) seems to become shorter and shorter with about 3 hours of maximum usage left. Even with the fact that i'm a careful user, keeping the vita in a temperature-neutral and dry room, protecting it always with a case when it's unused and only charging it when it's depleted. (Yeah, i'm obsessed with the device. It's just like my love for the original Gameboy when i was a kid.

Ok so, you guys are overreacting. The LCD screen doesn't look that bad, and the differences look quite minute. And if you see them with your naked eye, the slims colours aren't that washed out. I'm not denying that the oled is bad, but you should still consider the slim.

Oleds may show vibrant colours and look better than lcd, they do however have a short life span and encounter many problems such as burn ins. I honestly think the lcd shows natural colours, and personally think its a better choice over oled due to longer life span. Can't wait to test out the slim!

I guess it's preference. You get a really sharp and bright picture from the OLED screen. Not to mention great viewing angles. Yeah the battery is shorter but I never have problems with my Vita's battery now. I usually charger it like maybe twice a week depending on how much I play it. I've never seen any image burn in on a Vita. Usually plasma screens leave burn in due to the sheer temperature they burn. The glass screen doesn't help either. You do get a more accurate color portrayal with LCD and less gloss though. I guess it's really up to the length of sessions and where you play it the most.

Thinking I am going to wait for a 3000 model before I were to consider upgrading here. The 2000's LCD screen looks like ass. I mean, I play on my 3DS XL a ton and love it, but looking at these two screens is like night and day. The OLED looks much brighter and clearer.

agreed. I too will wait for a 3000 model. I waited on the 1000 due to the size. I was going to pick up the boderlands2 bundle but then I sadly saw LCD. The OLED in my opinion feels more of a next gen type console which was the reason i considered the vita.

IcedEarthaholic I bought a couple of Switches. Have 4 dual IPS 3DS consoles. I had a Vita and sold it awhile ago but I bought it back along with 30 games so far. Get them again while you can. The price on the vita and games are already going up and getting hard to find. There are some gems that people will rediscover and it will be sought after. Vita and games will be worth some money.

2 different screens. The Bottom 1 has the better screen but the battery is shorter. Top 1 has a Meh screen so battery last longer. thats the trade off

When the new vita was announced I went and bought a second OLED one immediately. I just hate LCD compared to OLED. One hour extra battery is not worth the degrade in screen contrast and colour. Most people own portable battery packs that will double the battery time of the release vita.

Prefer the new one for the better battery life, more finger resting space on the back, the improved buttons, the internal memory (even if it's tiny), and the micro-USB port. I'm not bothered by the screen to much. My previous phone was a Galaxy Nexus with a 720p Super AMOLED screen, yet I still play quite often on my 3DS; that thing's screen is an embarrassment.

I'm very happy with my model 1000, though 2000 deserves a praise for having longer battery life, better portability(seriously it plays and feels better) buttons are raised a bit which works amazing specially the select/stat/home button. 1000's battery is quite problematic with the wifi on, only lasting about 3-4 hours(depends on which game) I just cant wait to get my vita hack with Wololo VHBL PSP homebrew/emulator loader SO i can play fabulous classic systems like CPS2/NEOGEO/GBA/GB/GBC/GAMEGEAR/SNES/NES/CM64/SEGAGENESIS/n64 and more on beautifully glorious OLED where the Colors shine and not blindingly bright

Dévujà Error I know this is about 3 months late nor am I the dude but it’s actually very comfortable to hole compared to the original since it’s so much lighter. Also, since the back pads are bigger that means there’s less of the back touch pad available which is a plus because you won’t accidentally hit it in some games that require the back touch pad. @@aboddy67 I know this is a week later, but I just picked up an oled model ps vita and couldn't be happier, battery life is still good, I'd say 4-5 hours of playing time for it to go dead. I just ordered a ps vita 1000 portable battery for like $10 off Amazon which will charge it for me on the road. The 1000 model doesn't feel heavy or bulky at all. Im going to hack it soon and get unlimited games!

i have a s2 ipad 2 and vita i just prefer oled its much clearer in my eyes, just try to watch 720p vids and u will appreciate the popping colours in oled screem... theirs a cydia app thatu can up the saturation onthe ipad to make it a little brighter cause lcd has ths yellow grain on it

i just hate how you can see the separation of the screen in the vita 200. the vita 1000 is just so nice looking with that light up PS symbol and the flushed in screen design. I got the white vita when it came out as a bundle with Assassins creed 3 i pre-order the slim with Borderlands 2 and after doing some research iam starting to doubt it i mean i can get the same Vita for the same price not as a bundle tho but the screen just kills it. Should i buy it or not? Or just get the old one? I already own one and was looking for the slim version but they just downgraded it at least it should be $150 not $200 like Sony is asking. Btw Sony still has the Walking Dead bundle which is $200 might just get that one instead.

The slim model in my opinion is much better. I had an original and I got the God Eater 2 slim model in November and compared them side by side when I had them on the highest settings and believe me the Slim is not bad. The only downside is the image quality is slightly less crisp than the original, other than that the colors on screen are more vibrant, it doesn't overheat easily like the original (play Killzone Mercenary on the original for an hour and it's uncomfortably warm, play Mercenary on the slim for the same time and longer and it's still normal). The slim model doesn't have the burn in issue like the original which over a period of time actually makes the screen look blotchy and washed out, the slim is lighter, the speakers are stronger, it's more comfortable to hold and it costs less. If you really insist on better image quality than the slim is going to look better in the long run because of the burn in issue the original has. Unless you only plan to play on the original for brief periods of time I would recommend against it. I used to have the original since around launch and believe me as much as I enjoyed it, once I got the slim model and got to see how it handles I don't want an original anymore (aside from Sony's official trigger grips, those were soooooo comfortable).

***** LED screens have burn in issues a lot due to heat on the screen. With TVs you'll usually notice the logo for a channel you may watch a lot kind of etched into the corner of your screen that doesn't go away even when you change the channel. The Vita's problem is that because of the heat that the original Vita model puts off after use for an hour or 2, is that the screen has blotchy burn in on it. It's most easily noticed when the Vita is loading something or starting up with a black screen as you'll see blotching (if you have a new Vita you shouldn't see anything yet), and the picture quality in these areas begins to look a bit washed out, especially with more use of the system. The blotched areas get worse and while right off the bat you won't notice it, if you pay attention to these areas on the screen you'll notice that it looks washed out and more yellowish than the rest. The thing with the original Vita model is that while there are games you might really want to play, you should avoid playing for more than an hour at a time and give it cool down time. There isn't really a convenient way around the burn in on the original model because of how quickly the original model warms up, especially with taxing games like Killzone Mercenary.

***** Wow, thank you so much for that answer! When I first got my vita, that was the first thing I noticed about the screen. During a black loading screen, I noticed there were a few black blotches on the screen, but were only noticeable during these times. It almost looked like dead pixels, only they weren't because once color returned to the screen, the blotches went away.

the reason behind the increased battery life is not the screen technology or a bigger capacity battery, the reason behind this is the die shrink from 40nm on the old ps vita to 28nm in the new vita the battery capacity in the newer vita model is actually smaller and that's why they could make it slimmer and lighter !

1 big downside about the 1000 model is that the oled screen will not last as long as the lcd screen, whether it is through burn in or natural degradation, oleds die much much faster than lcds... There is absolutely no denying the beauty of the 1000 screen but long term the slim will survive many more years... So in 25 years when the vita is a retro console like the gameboy you will glad to have a slim that still works. Love both models, but like the smaller backpad of the 2000 much more

Both the 1K, and the 2K have Wi-fi. However, the 1K does have a separate model with 3G in it, but that model does have Wi-Fi too. So if you buy the 1K Vita with 3G, and you don't like it, you can just not pay for it, and use the Wi-Fi.

The first game is not the same, they are 2 different versions with different colours. And in Megaman I don't see any differences, if anything, the OLED seem more whashed up (look at the red of the oni's face). And the white of the OLED screen it's just messed-up, with that purplish-red tint.

It depends on where your gonna play it. If your only gonna play it at home than take an oled but if you'll play it everywhere then take the new one cause it has more battery and its lighter.

Actually, if you get the PCH-2000 model of vita (which is this one slim) the colours looks better compared with the OLED (people will hate me for this) OLED just brightens the colour of the screen but if you play some games such as Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3, you can get the comic effect in the LCD screen of the vita slim, even SFxT. BTW, vita slim has a really long battery life compared to the fat vita that only goes up to 5hrs.

Well in 2023 some oled have burn in issue with a yellow tint. I have a mura effect free almost screen witch is rare ( owned 3 oled vitas and first time i have clean blacks ) but there isn't "white" anymore everything is yellowhish and i'm afraid is going to be worse in coming years. I would maybe find a really good ps vita lcd

Not really, About the OLED colors being better It seems that the lcd has more defined colors than the OLED like when you compare the iPhone and the Samsung OLED screens, LCD provides truer colors and OLED provides richer and brighter colors since lcd is backlit

I really don't see much of a difference most of the time. Although, the PS Vita 2000's screen has some of the colors washed out a bit at times. I wouldn't mind sticking with a PS Vita 2000.

I would still prefer the OLED coz I've been playing with the low res PSP 3000 for a few years which made me wear glasses and need a better, more fun-to-play portable console with a better screen. Battery life is not a problem for me.

I own both and prefer the vita 2000 overall but the oled screen is way better than the lcd. The difference is actually bigger than most people make it out to be. It was hard to get used to the lcd after using the oled model for a couple of years. Then the better sound, comfort and battery life of the 2000 settle in and your all good.

It appeared the original PS Vita was the upgrade here… The original looks more solid, well built, and has better color. While the new Vita looks like a cheaper version of the original, the only benefit of the new Vita is the weight and a much better looks in brightly lighted area to play in.

And don't forget the micro USB port lol and the built in memory and the fact it's slim like in the name so it doesn't feel like you are carrying 4 and a half game boy advanced in ur pocket lmao

Idk why everybody keep saying that the slim model doesn't look good. I got both and I think they are very similar. I prefer the natural color of the led over oled's color

natural? the LCD screen looks like it has a piss filter on everything. OLED is far superior imho, not even close..
