@@icegremlin47 good info from somebody whose tried them all. Yes they’re heavy and the frames a bit stiff… but the motors are so smooth, the handling is great, and they’re super strong and reliable. Personally I rode the new kx and the Yamaha, i have a 22 gasgas 450 not stock. The kx is nice, reminds me of a KTM 350 engine wise. The Yamaha is just to much for me to be consistent. And yes we used the tuner app. Just felt different for what we ride in Ohio. Great bike but i just wasn't as comfortable on it as the kx. Never messed with the suspension except for the sag on them. Overall i had fastest lap times on my bike. Which is to be expected. It's set up for me. They are probably all so close once you dial them in it's going to be all about the rider.

Heard a lot about the new Kawi being a slug and the engine falling flat on its face. I expect that some of it was hyperbole, but the fact that even Vital is commenting on its lack of relative power seems to be a pretty big red flag. Ultimately though, the chassis update is the biggest thing. You can make the engine better, but I don't expect that there are any riders out there engineering their own chassis.

@domdequoy71328 ай бұрын
I owned 19,20,21,22,23 and will the 24 CRF450R. The thing I hate about these shootout is that they don't considere the price to make it right for you and how much to keep the bike troughout the year... What I did to my Honda's : Suspension, Clamps, push rods, 09 steering damper and engine supports. Around 3k more and the bike is absolutely solid. I had a SXF and it 3k more at the dealer and you will more likely do the same mods plus change those WEAK OEM hubs... Plus the bike just don't last... So for me the honda have been top 3 best bike for the last 5-6 years.
@yukonjon59648 ай бұрын
@@domdequoy7132 that's good to hear (same mods i was planning). so would you say, besides suspension work, the aftermarket engine mounts really make the stiff chassis work properly?... or is the triple clamp the better mod to get it handling better??? back in the day special shootouts used to spend $1000 on the cheaper bikes and then compare em. seems Honda would move way up the list if they still did this, but with about $2500.
@domdequoy71328 ай бұрын
@@yukonjon5964 Clamps realy depends of the track you usualy ride and how you ride. If you ride wide and fast tracks, maybe the infamous 23.5mm clamp would be best but if you usualy ride tighter tracks or if you are an inside huger you don't need clamps. For me, I think you can get a realy solid setup with the fork flush in the clamps and the rear wheel as far as possible. The perfect bike that feels perfect everywhere doesn't exist. You have to adapt your riding to make it work. I also did 14-52 sprockets which realy calmed the frame. If you don't want to spend money on hangers you can driller them in the exact center of it. I did it on my 2019 and it did what I want. But I didn't find any alternative to stiffen up the front engine mount.

For all of you crying about too much power, shut your honey pot and listen. It’s a 450. It’s a big bore thumper. You have to ride it differently. No, you don’t get to play Superman and use full throttle everywhere. Short shift, use the torque. Need extra power? Let it rev out. Riding at lower RPMs improves the handling of the bike (it’s called rotational mass). On the straights, let it rev when rotational mass doesn’t matter. 450s let you just ride the bike without worry. Just ride instead of squeezing every drop of it out. Also, you can get away with a more point and shoot style of racing. 450s give you options. I personally think they should up the displacement to 500cc and let the 2-stroke 500s back in and to top it off… bring on the electrics! More options = better racing.
