Same here and she was a guinea pig for all the steroids that landed her bed ridden . And after all that the doctors would not even see her any more, just sent the pills ! I am convinced that it was low D and other things like the omega 3's as well ,on top of stress depleting other health needs that started the troubles.

Most people are aware of Selma Blair's difficult struggles with MS and her year long, difficult bone marrow treatments - but I saw a recent video of her riding a horse with ease and then being interviewed. Her struggles with speaking have almost disappeared and she has made HUGE improvements. If you were unaware of her health history - you would have never known that she has any disabilities. "An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure." that's so nice, the gov kills people with precisely opposite recommendations for 40 years, and we can just smugly post meaningless trash on youtube and feel like we've done something good. BTW, the hep infections in kids in UK are from changes in fertilizer, and everyone knows, and you, and everyone, and John, are silent, all to stop panic buying.

As usual, interesting and beneficial. I started 7 years ago supplementing with vit D (10 000 Ul) a day and omega 3. Hoping doing this to stop arthritis which was my problem. At that time I had asthma since 1980 and high blood pressure since the age of fifty. After three years, these two pathologies vanished, and in addition I stopped having any cold or influenza-like illness, which I used to have during winter time. I am not vaccinated because I had an anaphylactic shock three years ago at the end of a surgical operation and nearly died. I got the Delta variant end of December 2021 and the omicron BA2 mid February, each time in a mild form. My age : 80 years and in very good shape, (until now). My case goes along with your point.

As a retired marine engineer I have always been trained and worked to the mantra that prevention is better than cure. Therefore our maintainence was always preventative for instance, changing oils and filters within a certain running time. This meant that sea time was keep to a maximum as there was little break down maintenance caused by lack of maintenance. The same principle can be applied to many scenarios in life, such as the human body.

I started taking vitamin D liquid drops some 15 years ago to combat menopause related hot flashes and night sweats and they stopped immediately. Literally overnight. The ear infections I regularly got since childhood stopped. The common colds I regularly had almost stopped- at this point it's been at least 7 years since my last cold. And despite being an 'essential worker' and having to come into work multiple days a week and having to see different people in multiple offices (in IT), out of the up to 14 people in my work team, only one other person and I have NOT had Covid despite being around the others regularly. With no noticed negative effects, I see no reason NOT to take vitamin D (I do take K2 as well).

My Dad's doctor put him on a higher dose of vitamin D3 back in the 1990s when Dad developed SAD (seasonal affective disorder -- in short, Dad began to suffer depression in winter when he got older). Being a caring dad, he urged me to start taking it while I was still young. Dad died last year at the age of 82, may he rest in peace. I've been taking vitamin D3 since he advised it, with my doctor's approval. I've actually had to change doctors a number of times due to moving long distance periodically, but each doctor has approved it. As I've aged, my current doctor and specialists really emphasize my continuing to take vitamin D3 supplements. I've never developed SAD or any autoimmune disease, and my immunity has overall been pretty good. As for fish oil, I was taking it until about 10 years ago, recommended for cardiovascular health. However, when I learned about the harvesting practices, not only the impact on the environment, but also including forced labor by shanghaied sailors (mostly from the Philippines), I stopped taking it. I heartily agree that it would be highly beneficial to farm the "seaweed" to produce the oil. By the way, if anyone would like to learn more about global advocacy for mariners, there is a Maritime organization that makes the issues known. I was a member back when I was working as a cook on American ships within US waters. We should be concerned for sailors because 90% of everything we use everyday comes to us via waterways, on ships. Either the whole finished product or components have been transported on the waterways.

Fasting can help with your issues, if you are able to do it. Some of the many benefits of fasting and a lower carb whole food diet on the immune system, blood pressure, blood sugar and anti-aging, all backed up by clinical data: Fribrosis is reversed The hunger hormone ghrelin lowers over time with extended fasting and rise from dieting Thymus stem cells are regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria and viruses by the immune system. Blood pressure is quickly and dramatically lowered, which is very important for a good outcome with the current pandemic. Fasting increases nitric oxide, which has manifold postive effects like reducing arterial plaque. Weight loss from fasting only loses10% lean tissue and 90% fat compared to the typical 25% lean tissue and 75% fat lost when calorically restricting for long periods. Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy! Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus. Is fasting just the same as caloric restriction? No! Dieting increases the hunger hormone ghrelin while fasting decreases it and has many other health benefits! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYfPXqGfoc2KgsU What breaks a fast? kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZK1faZ5pd2sadE When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state. Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it and builds muscle! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHu4daiZd7ypatU Fasts of several days will not affect short term female fertility and may increase long term fertility especially in women with PCOS. Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJamkJp_h5eNZ5Y The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again! Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, it never uses mainly glucose for fuel and using glucose for fuel is very biochemically damaging! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJeUm6qDl9uBrtk Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses. Fasting can make you gain muscle faster: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4OwaXqIr9h8f8k Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention! Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections. After 72 hours or more fasted, your body actually recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire system. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging. Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting. Autophagy induced by fasting even helps hair regrow. Dieters losing weight through intermittent fasting show greater reduction in waist size and increase in insulin sensitivity for the same weight lost and alternate day fasters were shown to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time over a six month period. Fasting reverses metabolic syndrome, which is tightly correlated to Chronic Fatiguque Syndrome, high blood pressurecancer and many other chronic diseases. Fasting has been shown to increase bone marrow volume by 10% and levels of carnosine in the body in as little as a few weeks. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. Eating one meal a day can bring most of these benefits to a lesser degree, and adding a few entire days off from eating per week will have even more effect especially when starting to feel poorly. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. As someone who developed MS over 20 years ago, I can tell you what Dr Campbell says is almost certainly true. I began Copaxone disease modifying therapy in 2007 - 2 years after being diagnosed - yet I noticed a BIGGER improvement when I began taking vitamin D3 by my own choice. In the end my specialist ADMITTED it HAD helped me. I also take fish oil supplements and consume oily fish regularly. I stopped taking my MS injections around 3 years ago and have felt better since doing so, though that isn't an automatic recommendation.

My son and his wife stayed with me for six weeks waiting on their house to close. Two weeks into their stay my son tested positive for Covid and one week later his wife tested positive. I never even had the sniffles. At the time I'd had two Covid shots but not the booster shot. David Attenborough is an athirst, which defies logic. It should be obvious to all that the wonderful design complexity of all living things has a Creator. It doesn't matter how many billions of years they imagine, since the Creation, there is no way the THEORY of Evolution can explain them away. It fact, all matter breaks down over time (the 2nd law of thermodynamics). Even humans, every generation has about 200 extra errors in our gene sequences, on average. So don't just accept what self righteous scientific people say about THEORIES, even David Attenborough. They are just following the THEORIES of deluded forebares, like Darwin. 🙄

@@baby-pq2cr I supplement 5k-7k iu of vitamin D each day and I supplement 400-500 mg of magnesium. Each individual would have a different demand depending on physical activity, diet, weight, etc. It is also important to take a form of magnesium that is easily absorbed. @@fidelcatsro6948 I didn't either when my family started supplementing vit d a few years ago. But I started having leg cramps which led me to looking into the relationship with magnesium and vit d. Many people are magnesium deficient because of diet and lack of awareness. Some forms or magnesium are not easily absorbed. On top of that vitamin D doesn't waist magnesium but depletes it. They are codependent for many functions. Magnesium deficiency may cause or worsen heart arrhythmia, asthma, gall bladder issues, spams, seizures, constipation, PMS cramping and the list goes on. There are published studies on all this. It just hasn't received the attention that the importance of vitamin D has.

The initial trial analysis found no difference in cancer rates. Subsequently, at a later assessment of clinical participants they found fewer cancer deaths amongst the Vitamin D cohort. Perhaps you are aware of it, but if not, I'm sure your followers would appreciate a review of the trial. Many thanks for your valuable work Dr John.

@Taiwo Omotosho I agree, all of these can have beneficial effects. A lot of things that factor in are individual biology and availability of any particular source, also the purity and efficacy play a huge role for anything that is taken in. The initial inquiry was what were my top ten and I answered based from my personal experiences with the different things that I have utilized. There’s no one way to supplement in this crazy situation that all of us find ourselves in, it is always best for anyone to have a good nutritional foundation and exercise of course, but also it is very important to have fun and a good sense of humor in life, we all are more than the sum our parts.

I “cured” my autoimmune by removing processed foods, eating as much organically produced food as I can afford, removing bleach and other synthetic cleaners from my house, eating more greens and less startchy veg. It took about 3 years in all bit I went from painful arthritis in my hands and 3-4 bouts of month-long flu-like symptoms every year to nothing. I’ve been healthy for a long time now, 6 years. I also started taking a vit D supplement in the winter and I work outdoors and walk a lot for that work. Each time I implemented one of these I felt better working a few weeks.

fasting, red light, collagen, glycine, probiotics. All of these will help, and fasting also raises D levels. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice. @@pebble100c There actually is some scientific evidence that Vitamin B plays a role in Psoriasis most of these studies are freaking old though. But there are some interviews from modern medical doctors who speak about it as legit treatment option in psoriasis but no modern studies. I looked a bit more into it and there are multiple different reasons why vitamin b plays a big role in anti inflammatory processes and psoriasis is about inflammation mainly. My academic nutrional friend told me that it is nearly impossible to risk a vitamin B overdose anyway. So I think we have good reasons to keep substituting that stuff in relatively high doses. :D

It needs to be stressed that D has to convert to its final, hormonal form in order to get into the cells. Those steps occur in the liver and the kidneys, so it's important that liver and kidney function are good. The reason that it might work is that D sits on the Inter lueken 2 receptor site, which controls auto-immune activity.

Indeed. Not just nori but also kombu (kelp) and lots of other types of seaweed as well as natto (fermented soybeans). I'm eating kombu every day and natto regularly. Not near as much as the everage Japanese, but some. All seaweeds are high in iodine, which is essential for healthy thyroid function, and omega 3 and high quality proteins as well as lots of minerals. Natto is amazingly high in K2 as well as other very healthy substances, such as natto-kinase, and probably the most beneficial live probiotic bacteria bacillus subtilis, which themselves produce K2 as wel as fend off unfriendly microbes in the intestines. Moreover bacillus subtilis increases the mucus layer in the intestines which reduces chronic inflamation caused by so called leaky gut syndrome. Bacillus subtilis in the west is widely used in cattle feed to keep them healthy, but strangely people ignore the need for it in humans. Perhaps because healthy cattle = profit for meat industry and sick humans = profit for pharmaceutical/medical industry???

I started taking vitamin D supplements last year after I caught something like the 10th cold my two year old brought home from daycare in as many weeks. It was the first time I've ever noticed a change in how I feel as a result of taking a vitamin. I noticed my energy levels - and my mood - improved significantly in a way I hadn't been expecting, and now, when my two year old brings home colds and coughs and sneezes virus straight into my face as she still unfailingly does, I may get the beginnings of a cold, but they never seem to progress very far before my immune system snuffs them out.
@ridgebriar17
@ridgebriar17 2 жыл бұрын
The same thing happened when my kids were little. I found a daycare near my house that allowed for "Drop Ins" to attend when needed ... which should have worked out well since I worked from home, and there were days I needed all my focus to be on my work. However, out of the 5 times I took him there - 4 times he developed a cold - and this was in the summer! He would be a little run down for a day or two - then he would bounce back to normal quickly - and I would be stuck with a runny nose, sore throat, coughing and congestion that would last for one to two weeks. I finally gave up and decided it was not worth getting that run down and sick for so many days- just so I could have a 5 hrs to work uninterrupted. In the following years, I would occasionally experience the 'stuffy head, sore throat' symptoms begin to emerge ...and dreading days of feeling cruddy that would lay ahead .... but like you, after about 5 to 10 minutes of feeling these "pre-cold" symptoms - it would suddenly disappear - which baffled me. As the years passed, my kids all developed more immunity and they never seemed to have a cold and colds rarely appeared .... BUT a couple of years ago, my daughter-in-law had a cold while we were celebrating XMAS ... and I did my best to keep some distance between us. However, the next morning I suddenly felt that "stuffed head -sore throat" feeling that always preceded the beginnings of a cold - but minutes later - it was gone. Once again I was left wondering IF I had in fact contracted that Cold - and my innate immune system kicked in due to previous bouts of having assorted colds and knocked it out, before it got a foot hold. This is one of the many things doctors should make people aware of ... that one can contract a virus start to get the early symptoms - only to have it disappear. This happened a lot when my kids were 2 and 5 ... and I was baffled why I kept having these 'pre cold" symptoms -that would quickly disappear. Now with all we know about viruses and their spread due to COVID ... we have all gotten a lot wiser as to all the components that get triggered during an infection.

Awesome, Marmocet! Maybe your 2-year-old should also take Vitamin D. (Of course, the optimum dosage for a child will be much smaller than that for an adult.)
@Marmocet
@Marmocet 2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonhsu4711 Yep, I'm doing that. She weighs about 1/4th as much as I do, so I'm giving her 1/4th as much as I take (I take 4,000 IUs, so she gets 1,000). She brings colds home less frequently now, and when she gets them, they don't seem to last as long or produce symptoms that are as severe, although that could be in part because her immune system now has some familiarity with the kinds of viruses kids her age spread to one another. I grew up in a fairly sunny part of the world and never really thought about vitamin D. I've been living in a cloudy, high latitude part of the world for several years now, and looking back on it, there's no way I was getting anywhere close to enough vitamin D. This is probably why taking vitamin D supplements resulted in a perceptible change in how I felt.

@@ridgebriar17 I had a similar experience regarding daycare. I also work from home and was hoping that putting my little girl in daycare would enable me to be more productive. What happened instead was that, for the first six months, I literally got one cold after another, plus a few other much nastier viruses (norovirus and something that was a bit like covid but was probably either the flu or some form of enterovirus). It was not fun at all. I'd just be getting over one cold when catch the next one. Little kids are excellent little virus spreaders.

@@flybobbie1449 I’m so sorry to learn about the problems with yourself and your niece. I had Endo all of my reproductive life, the pain was so immense and I can equate to a monthly miscarriage as I lost 8 babies. To lessen the pain I found cutting out wheat and gluten helped enormously. Also any of the deadly nightshade family, red meat and alcohol should be avoided. Being a potato head, carnivore drinker obviously didn’t help me, but I did cut down. I used to wear a tens machine and adhesive heat pads which helped a lot. Endo lowered my immunity as I catch any bug doing the rounds. As I’m a full time carer for 2 family members, since covid I’ve self isolated throughout so not to catch and continue to care for them. Pre-menopause, I would have only a few days a month pain free; I hated it as it made such an impact upon my life. I even went through the menopause without HRT being petrified of menstruating again. My GP was rubbish, and I’ve sought information privately and about to start HRT for the first time. I’m nervous to say the least but living through the menopause is debilitating in so many other ways, but no pain. I’ve been informed that I may spot, 🤞I’m not in pain. I hope this goes a little way to helping your niece.🙏

Interesting case study and question - a few years back a pet dog of mine that I adopted from an animal shelter developed Addison's disease (hypo adreno cortism) and died from it. Extensive follow up research and analysis revealed that the underlying trigger was the animal shelter had over vaccinated him with up to 15 vaccines per year over several years, and this stress on the immune system depleted his adrenal glands resulting in the fatal auto immune syndrome. My question is whether a similar thing could also happen in humans if they are over vaccinated or for that matter exposed too frequently to any antigens? What would the limiting position be, how can one prevent, monitor and treat such syndromes?
@ridgebriar17

There are already various research articles by virologists - who are deeply concerned about resorting to using additional vaccinations or boosters to treat what has evolved into never ending waves of new COVID variants ... something I have never heard about in our history of dealing with contagious viruses. These researchers fear that our immune systems being constantly inflamed and stimulated by vaccine antibodies that they will soon begin to 'ignore' those triggers - or - so irritate and inflame our immune systems ... that we develop auto immune illnesses. One German virologist very recently posted a video with him passionately concerned about how the failure of our current vaccines to STOP THE SPREAD of COVID - which American health agencies rarely mention publicly - has led to the constant mutation of the COVID viruses. These potentially dangerous mutations that in the early days of COVID - were being blamed on unvaccinated people continuing to spread COVID which would lead to more mutations due to a contagious virus's inherent drive to override existing antibodies and barriers - to create variants so it could continue to spread. TURNS OUT ... that it is the flaw in our existing vaccines that allows this virus to repeatedly infect vaccinated people - since the vaccine's neutralizing antibodies do NOT exist in our upper airways where it first infects our bodies ...allowing the virus to replicate unimpeded .. until it begins to reach our lower respiratory systems, when those neutralizing antibodies from vaccines or previous infections - are active and they then attack the virus ... the reason why vaccinated people get infected but then only develop mild illness are due to the active antibodies in our "lower respiratory system". BUT AS LONG AS VACCINATED PEOPLE can get infected and then spread the virus ... we will continue to have waves of new mutated variants. The really scary part, is the chance of one of the future variants evolving into a form of COVID that could evade enough of our existing COVID antibodies while also evolving into a more deadly mutation ... something that has been quietly mentioned - but only in a small, quiet voice, and not so loud that people start asking the "tough questions" about how this could have been avoided by developing different treatments or vaccines - that could have stopped the never ending waves of variants - before it evolves into something more deadly - and contagious..

Humans are meant to be exposed to actremdous amount of antigens by living in nature. Hunter-gatherers more often have parasites than not, get microscopic particles from feces, urine, and spoilt foods in their mouths all the time. They don’t have any signs of autoimmune disease. It’s not the antigens. It’s the lack of exposure, and then SUDDEN high exposure WITH ADJUVANTS (!!!) such as found in vaccines, in a state of T helper cell imbalance, and in a state of immune insufficiency due to zinc, vitamin D, vitamin A, or any other immune-related nutrient which can lead to your immune system to make a mistake and start producing autoimmune antibodies.

Thank you John. The Omega 3 oils subject needs more research. I took fish oil capsules to help heal my AstraZeneca gene editing injectable poison brain injury, and I found research presented that showed that they work better when vitamin B levels are higher, and therefore optimised in the person. I took vitamin B as well, and found that I have improved over the last three months. This was enhanced with having optimised my vitamin D and zinc levels prior to starting them, and I took Glutathione also. During summer, I soaked up the afternoon infrared sunlight and felt much better. Now it's approaching winter in Melbourne, and I miss the sun. It was good to soothe the Covid long haulers' skin itch and dermatitis. It seems that nutriceuticals work better with other nutriceutical agents. I have a very low sugar intake, and relatively low carbohydrate consumption too, in order to reduce inflammation. I prefer to eat less processed food, and I only use olive oil, butter, lard or beef dripping to cook with as they're stable fats, and proven to be of benefit over many generations. Diet and health is quite complex, but very much worth the research as though our lives depend on it... because they do.

If you watch any genuine Doctor or nutritionist here on YT, most of them would recommend supplementing vitamin D, particularly for those of us in the world who don't get enough from sun exposure. We live in NW England and, in conjunction with a keto based diet with intermittent fasting, I started supplementing 10,000iu's of D3 (with K2) per day last Autumn, along with a few other herbs and spices. After suffering for decades with heavy winter colds and flu, this winter I've barely had a sniffle. We also look after a 6 year old child (we are foster carers) on a long term basis, she came to us 5 years ago suffering from regular chronic chest infections, coughs and colds, particularly in winter. After many GP appointments, hospital appointments, tonsils and adenoids removed, the infections persisted. Last Autumn we started supplementing her with 800i.u's per day of D3 (with K2) and, despite having 2 "normal" colds, she has been 95% better this winter than previous winters. Other than the vitamin supplements, we have not changed anything else in her diet....................

Remember that refined sugar and seed oils are correlated with almost all disease conditions as well. Glad you have found help from supplementation. You can get a guideline of starting dose of Vitamin-D3 based on bodymass and BMI and then get a blood test after the end of winter, at least 4 months from change of your dose and see if you and your foster child are reaching the natural serum level of 50ng/ml=125nmol/l that is known to support immune function. You may find a little more is required, the public health guidelines are inadequate for some strange reason. The default dose in IU is calculated as Weight(kg) * BMI * 5 Lots of published medical papers I can refer you to if interested.
