You two are too cute! My daughter bought me one of these for Xmas last year and I've mostly been using it to weigh my coffee beans in the morning. I just started using it for other things and I'm starting to appreciate it more each time I use it. What I really appreciate it for is measuring messy ingredients like almond butter, maple syrup, olive oil and things like that. Now I don't have half a dozen measuring cups and spoons to clean when I'm done making something. And I can add all of my own recipes and have them all in one place. I'm going to be using this a lot more!

AS an FYI!!! The banana skin can be included in the smoothie. It is just good fiber and will not hurt you in any way. Just cut on the top handle (Stem) and the very bottom. The vitamix will blend it in to the point you will never know it is there but you will have some really good fiber in your smoothie!!!!

I've done that and you're right, I didn't notice any difference. I only do it with organic and I wash the skin well before I toss it in. At the very least, I scrape the inside of the skin with the side of a spoon and use that.

Just bought my scale today and made strawberry ice cream, was yummy! Just a note on your video, you need to make sure when you’re adding ingredients that you wait until screen shows red with a check mark before you go on to adding next ingredient, not just when you hear ding sound. Once it shows red for that ingredient, then it automatically moves up to next ingredient.

@@LINY, not being a parent (that I know of ;-) ), I can't speak to what it's like to being one. However, having had 2 excellent parents, I used to kid my Mom when I was in my early 20's when she'd complain about her 4 boys and say "Well, that's what you get for fooling around with boys!" And then I'd run out of reach. Of course, she knew I was teasing. I suppose it's a little late to send yours back to the "Cabbage Patch" for a full refund, and I don't suppose you'd ever want to either. :-) Kids do often get in the way of "the best laid plans of mice and men," but I suppose that's their function. Please let me know how the kids changed your use of (or uses of) that scale and whether you still consider it a worthwhile addition to a Vitamix owner's home (with and without kids, pets, or older parents at home). Perhaps an updated video is in order.

there is an exclamation mark when she doesn't add the banana fully and begins adding the blueberry, did the app know???
@drnycmedia7 жыл бұрын
Richard Lannister It probably detected the gap in what the weight should be and what it was 😊😊😊
@darkflame8085 жыл бұрын
The exclamation appeared because it was warning her. She was at 80% and dropped the last piece of banana in. The weight of the banana falling made the scale think she had enough banana. It dinged to say move on to blueberries but the scale realized the banana wasn't as heavy due to her dropping it in it went back to yellow. So she didn't meet the requirement of bananas. When she poured in the blueberries it was still expecting bananas so the scale thought she added too much bananas hence the exclamation point. When you see the exclamation point it means you "overpoured". When this happens you have three options (remove the ingredient to get the right balance (possible with solids), accept the ingredient and move on without fixing the recipe (for times you just want more of one ingredient in your dish) or you can hit recalculate and it will tell you to add a touch more of all the other ingredients you previously added to balance the recipe and then the app will recalculate the future ingredients so that your recipe still comes out perfect (aside from an additional half serving or a few extra calories). It's a very smart app! If you are adding big chunks though just be sure to look at the screen to see what it's asking before moving on even if you hear the ding cause sometimes the ding is from gravity adding weight to whatever you drop in it. Give it a half second to catch up :)

interesting concept but it seems to be not so practical after all... especially after watching this i think learning by doing is still the much more efficient way when it comes to blending smoothies. It seems just stupid to click on an ipad for minutes and possibly make errors like it has happened in the video. a smoothie seldomly takes me longer to make than 2 minutes. a tablet and a bluetooth connected scale would only make it more work than nessecary for me
@olivtrees87495 жыл бұрын
I have this scale and app and will probably return it for this reason. The instructions are not clear either. Even though I change the servings like she shows here, the app still ignores it and makes a 40 oz smoothie anyway. Even though it's saved as a 20 oz recipe.

Just made my first recipe today. I don't recall the name, think it was Very Berry Smoothie or something like that, it was one of the suggested recipes for a protein shake. I had the same thing happen with the banana where it'd wanted just a bit more. I simply clicked on the next ingredient on the app so it skipped the remaining banana it was waiting for - that told it I wasn't going to add anymore. It was fine with that. You have the option to edit which ingredients you use, but if you run out of something the recipe calls for and don't have anything to replace it with, I think you should tell the app you are skipping that item so it won't be measuring the weight of whatever you put in next as that (missing) item. I hadn't known the app would integrate to the scale as well as it did. My first item had said 13.9oz of milk (or something like that), which it helpfully described as "about" 1.5 cups. Being my first recipe, I thought that was an odd and vague direction, but I looked up how much 13.9oz was in cups and was told 1.613, so I then grabbed a measuring cup and filled it to just above 1.5 cups... When I then poured it into the 64oz mixer I noticed the app was monitoring in real time and it had me stop adding the milk I'd measured, with maybe a tablespoon or so left in the measuring cup. Having learned my lesson, I stopped measuring any of the remaining items and just relied on the app. Result was an excellent protein shake - tasted great. Highly recommend the scale if you can use it with the app. This was only my first use, but I can definitely see me going much faster on future attempts since I won't have to measure items myself. Again, any items you don't have and can't mimic by substituting something else that weighs the same, just click the next item on the app to let it know you are declining to add whatever it is it'd asked for.
