I love how many are saying: "Oh, Vitor lost that armbar! Oh, Carlson Gracie would turn in his grave!". I'd love to see you try and armbar Jon Jones in a real mixed martial arts fight, where there's no gi and anything can happen. As someone else said, Vitor was very close to get an armbar on a guy who weights 110kg on fight night and is nearly 2 metres tall, and, on top of that, is Jon fucking Jones, probably the best fighter on the planet. At that time, Vitor was the only person who actually got very close to defeating Jon Jones (until Gustafsson beat his shit).

I actually scored the Jones-Gustafsson fight 3-2 in favor of Jones. No big deal though because Gustafsson will get another chance to fight Jones.

Great video, I enjoy learning from Braulio. He's an excellent teacher.

When he had the armbar on he was not being elbowed, it was just an adjustment and something you should bare in mind. Victor was half way there, he just got too excited, or he just did not know that was an option, I kinda think the latter.

I've also seen other channels trying to break this scenario down. Vitor probably did the best anybody could do when it comes to trying to submit Jones, considering the circumstances. This is really the best any BJJ practitioner could possibly do against Jones, even though Belfort is much more than a BJJ practitioner because he is also very good at striking. His armbar was good. It was good technique. I think that he thought he broke the arm of Jones. I think almost everyone thought that, including the announcers. But, you see, Jones is no ordinary athlete. He's an athletic beast. 999 guys out of 1000 would have tapped in that situation, but not Jones. He's just too big and strong and athletic. He doesn't quit. Trying to submit him is nearly impossible. I mean, it's easy to break the situation down after the fight but once you're actually in the octagon with Jones then it's a totally different story. I give much respect to Belfort for going for the early submission before he got too tired and sweaty. Belfort did the best he could. Like I said, this is probably the best any BJJ practitioner could do against Jones in a MMA fight. Jones is just too good.

Looks like the road to Dethrone Jones is BJJ.

C'mon people, mestre Estima is showing us what where wrong with Vittor technique at the fight time, just that. All other considerations (it's easy to say outside the octagon, Jones defended it well, he's too big, he was messing Belfort's balls with the elbow, etc.) are redundant indeed.

also jon jones have long ass arms, because the gloves and slippery sweat he couldn't grab jones arms for long at the right place and when he had jones arms too low he stopped the armbar

E o Jon Jones fez a saída errado. O Belfort tinha o DEVER de pegar aquele braço. O Carlson deve estar arranhando o caixão até agora...

Typical technical vs practic... Insted of saying ictor should have doe this and that.. Look at the fight... Victor did try to get jones head inside his knee joint, but jones reacted fast and victor had to use his lower part of his legg to set in armbar.. By the looks at jones afterthe fight my guess is most fighters would have tapped, but facing top fighters applying technic isnt always as easy,..

@songszmusic6 жыл бұрын
none of this would have mattered, jones would find a way out because he is just too good of a fighter
@loudenvier12 жыл бұрын
