With the mini-hub you can add voice automation with Alexa, Google, Siri and more. With scenes you can have several windows in a large space open and close with one voice command.

Is the only difference with the rod 2 the fact that it can better manage telescoping rods? Or is it quieter/faster? Also do you know where I can buy the new one? Their website only has the old one for sale.
@VittorTech2 жыл бұрын
I added a new link in the description to the Rod 2. I think they launched a little later than my video. Only difference is compatibility with more rods along with a bigger battery and the ability to push 8kg. It's not quieter from what I can tell.

Hi I'm really interested in the SwitchBot Curtain Rod 2, Mini Hub, Solar Panel, and possibly the Remote. I have a single lightweight curtain and only need it to open/close halfway via Alexa and will probably want to setup a schedule too. Have read so many complaints though on Amazon like the following (1) Motor too weak (2) Calibration won't stick gets out of sync have to redo once a month (3) Smart integration isn't great even with hub (4) Disconnects have to go up and reset the device so it can connect to my phone/hub/remote again (5) Automation seems to forget what it's supposed to do (6) Motor stopped working after a month (7) After months it won't charge (8) if you try to manually open the curtain it messes up the calibration. After having for a year have you had any of the issues I've described so I can make an informed buying decision? Thanks!

what about the hub? Trying to figure out if I need one or not, couldnt tell if you had one or not
@VittorTech Жыл бұрын
I do have one! If you get the hub you can do automations and control outside your home. If you don’t get the hub you only have Bluetooth access to the device. I don’t regret the hub at all for the automation and connectivity component but you don’t “need” it.
@notureaveragemiss Жыл бұрын
@@VittorTech I was able to set a schedule for them to open and close without a hub. I keep having connectivity problems though :( keeps saying "failed to connect to your device please try again later" when trying to use one of the two I got and at 90%. Tried removing and adding again, going to reach out to support. I also have a hub on the way so hopefully that will help with connectivity

Yes, unless the one curtain is long enough to span the window.

I have heavy drapes that I close at night and open when the sun is shining for solar uptake. I'd like something that I can close remotely by Alexa when it is cloudy!

Yes you can!

So would you consider the rod 2 to actually be stronger than the old version? Reason I ask is my curtains are a bit heavy and the older version was not able to pull my curtains at all. It comes to a point where the curtains just locks up, I've tried using the grommet kit which didnt help so I have no idea what else to do.
@VittorTech2 жыл бұрын
Yep they have a better motor and a better attachment system. The website even states they’re designed for heavier curtains. Strongly recommend trying them out. Use code VITTORTECH to save money!

Is there a noise difference between the old version and the new? The old one seemed kind of loud, so I'm really hoping the new one is quieter
@VittorTech2 жыл бұрын
It's not quieter (from what I can tell). I agree with you though. They are surprisingly loud. The Rod 2 is basically just a compatibility update with better suspension. It can push 8kg of weight and has a bigger battery so you can charge way less frequently.

Hi hi same question with OO7, apart from it being able to better handle the rod , is there any other difference? My understanding is that the rod 2 will only be release near the end of this month to the mass market.

Rod 2 is out now! I updated the link in my description. It is a compatibility update and includes a bigger battery and can push 8kg of weight.

Is compatible with Homekit the version 2?
@VittorTech2 жыл бұрын
Not by default, but there’s a box I use called HOOBS which can pull SwitchBot products into HomeKit. I’ve been using it for two years and have a playlist on the channel covering it. Highly recommend if you have a lot of non-HomeKit devices.
@josemulero952 жыл бұрын
@@VittorTech okey, I use homebridge, I think I can integrate on it
@VittorTech2 жыл бұрын
Yep exactly. You’ll notice with the SwitchBot extension that sometimes the home app won’t display the correct mode (ex it’ll say close when it’s really open) but it’s still completely functional.
