Every piece of music that Janet's refined personality and rich mezzo voice touches reveals new and hidden beauties. Always a joy! Brava! 👍 ❤️ 👏

Our generation is most fortunate in that Dame Janet left us a large legacy of recorded work for us to enjoy and appreciate. On a personal note I first heard Dame Janet on a recording of Sea Pictures. I had bought the LP for Jacqueline du Pre playing the Elgar Cello Concerto with Sea Pictures on the other side. From the moment she began singing I was captivated, bought all her available recordings and was fortunate to hear her live several times. There is something about her singing that speaks to my soul.

Up to now , one of my favourite version. One can hear with Dame Janet Baker , what we can hear nowhere else , in the good sense...It's seemingly the same in life ? We fall in love with someone , when we find and do have feelings , we can find nowhere else ? Exultate jubilate , is both for Mozart , a religious hymn and his love for a woman.

One of the first arias I heard as a child and set me in the road to being a classical music lover. I can’t be sure, but I think it was Janet Baker, though it may well have been Joan Sutherland.

Yes she is a Mezzo soprano , but her interpretation works. She sounds just as at home as when she sang Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutte.

When was this recorded?

Se denota desafortunadamente cierta lentitud en la interpretación de la obra y por otra parte la falta de perfeccionamiento interpretativo de las coloraturas !

How many real Mezzos you know who can sing this in the original key? Just HER !!! She is not a light soprano, man!!!
@bauchmann9971 Жыл бұрын
She is not the light voice type one is used to listened to. Makes it even MORE fascinating!❤
