Viveash is a reserve set right by the Avon River along the Northam to Toodyay Road.
We are unsure about the pronunciation of this name. It could be ‘vive-ash’ or ‘viv-eesh’. We prefer the second option as it sounds better and is easier to say.
There are two distinct areas to this reserve. The lower area sits right on the west bank of the Avon River while the upper section sits closer to the Northam to Toodyay road.
There is a flushing toilet in the upper section of the reserve as well as a fire pit.
Wikicamps lists this as an unofficial campsite and plenty of people do overnight there.
There is significant noise from road and rail during the day but this decreases at night.
The lower section of the reserve is less affected by the noise.
River water is not suitable for drinking and contact with the water such as swimming is prohibited.
It is a dog friendly site but it is not advisable to allow your pest to swim here.
If the river is likely to flood then do not stay at the lower section by the river bank.
