As an Navy vet and educator, I find Vivek's platform on speaking the truth very refreshing. I came to America in 1981 having escaped communism and a war torn country at 14. I feel teenagers today have a national identity crisis not knowing to stand up when we do the pledge of allegiance. In order to form a cohesive national identity, we desperately need to put our foot down when it comes to language. The Framers didn't have polyglots write copies the bill of rights/articles of confederation/constitution in languages other than english. Why nationalism? Lots of things tear apart nations: -some succeed greater than others, creating tension -success varies by ethnicity -we are becoming multi-racial...less holding us together -we are becoming multi-religious...less holding us together -globalism means the monied class are less likely to invest in jobs in America -globalism means the monied class are more likely to think of themselves as world citizen -corporations concentrate wealth into a few hands -corporations and wealthy Americans are the only ones our politicians listen to -politicians listen to money, most people don't have money, our interests aren't represented -capitalism produces vast wealth disparities, often intergenerational class lines -Woke and DEI took over the university, villainized white men, the creators of America as evil racists, teach kids to divide up into class and race and gender, with whites being the bad guys, pretty good intellectual training for hate and Civil War With all these things tearing us apart, what's holding us together? Some people are more gifted than others. If the more gifted don't stick up for the lower classes, what's in it for the lower classes? Why would they not at minimum hate the ruling class? Patriotism is a deal. No one is patriotic anymore, it's in decline because the public, especially young people have figured out: our elite basically despise us.
