When I was a kid in the 70s, the local grocery store owner's teenage daughter used soda cans as curlers to curl her hair. She cut out both ends. IIRC, she had also used toilet paper &/or paper towel rolls as well.

My Granny use to use toilet rolls as a ‘ bump it ‘ for Sunday hair. She would tease her hair and clip the roll to the back and smooth her hair over it. 💥. The original bump it. Peace from Nashville Tn

With that many extra rolls on hand, I wonder if doubling up the rolls (cutting the second lengthwise to slip it over the first) would add more structure to the rolls and help keep everything sleek at the end

My Dad's sisters grew up poor in the 50s and 60s and curled their hair with juice cans. Empty juice cans. They told me they bobbypinned it. I thought they were joking but they were dead serious. I asked how they could sleep and my aunty said "Well, simply, you don't."

Idc that the flip didn't happen as hoped, but meow! the volume. O_o It looked really good! Also, your husband is a doll to save up the rolls for ye. That means you can try a different method for another video. Hm, what about those foil paper rolls that a bit thicker and hardier than TP rolls? Might give a better hold, even after you sleep on them...

My mom used to use empty (and washed out, obviously) food cans back in the 60s and 70s. Obviously you would have trouble sleeping in them, but they would work really well with a dryer set. Just be careful not to burn yourself if you try them!
