Vivid Audio's Inventive and Spectacular S12 Loudspeaker - SoundStage! InSight (August 2020)

Since 2004, Vivid Audio has produced some of the most wildly inventive loudspeakers in the world, including the acclaimed Giya series of loudspeakers and the more recently introduced Kaya range. Their speakers are designed in the UK and manufactured in South Africa and the UK.
In this video, cofounder and chief designer Laurence Dickie describes the intricate details of the new S12 loudspeaker, the smallest and least-expensive speaker in the Kaya range, which houses a new invention -- what Vivid calls an "Omni Absorber." Learn from Laurence what that is and what that does to the sound the speaker reproduces.

Vivid Audio are not the only manufacturer of small 2 way loudspeakers, right? So why do the rest not care about these very audible resonances? And heavy parallel sided cabinets make things worse..

We will, in time, not only be reviewing but also measuring like this S12 speaker, as well as others. These resonance typically show up in the frequency response. When the resonances are absent, you know the tech is likely working.

@@soundstagenetwork I would like to see evidence that the horn absorber Vivid audio uses not only works but is superior to a regular box speaker without the absorber. There is no way to absorb resonances inside such a small box as the S12. It is impossible. Sound energy does not disappear that easily. What frequencies are claimed by Vivid Audio to be absorbed by the absorbers?

im using the old B1 model, love it, sings effortlessly, super low resonance even at loud volumes. You just have to visit a dealer and touch the speakers side when its playing..
